i must say I quite share your view on math VS philosphopy. Math is pretty "limited" in it's resources. I mean that when one does a calculation, I think there is much more a limited on things you can "bring in", while with philosphy, one can pretty much bring in every detail about life or a subject into the solution. It's a much broader field, yet less stricly defined, which makes it more interesting. It also requires a bit more 'guessing' which is in a way interesting too

In TIOR a very good example of the myth of talent and "genetically" better is given in the example of tiger woods: The author points out that whilst many say tiger was "naturally' gifted, he started playing golf at 4 years of age and by the time most people had heard of him he was in fact 17 and had been having one on one lessons in an intense manner for 13 years! it talks about deliberate practice.

To come back to tiger woods, I think he both had *good genes* for this particular field, and *both* invested alot of time in his achievement , giving him a strong advantage over both people who just possesed either one of them. For example if someone notices they're good at something, chances they will further develop in that area and feel satisfied ("winners").
