  • I use both...X pattern in a 1960a cab. Sounds amazing.

  • I always thought I liked v30's better, but it seems I can't find a shootout that I like them over the G12T-75's... decisions, decisions...

  • @IronBroadsword there are many people who now mix the two in an X pattern to get the best of both worlds which makes sense...you get the clear low end presence of the vintage 30's but the nice attack and mix cutting qualities of the 75's...I'm hoping to do that with my marshall cab in the future unless I can get another cab with v30's but that's wishful thinking, lol

  • Nice demo. Both speakers sounds good, but it's still a hard decision for me :)

  • nice shitty peavey

  • @emoboi311 Not you again... FYI I've sold the peavey.

  • @emoboi311 leave it to a true prick to leave such a note-worthy and enlightened comment one a video that's well done and VERY useful for anyone considering doing a speaker swap!!! you my friend are a TOOL!!!!

  • What was the posision of the mic in front of the speaker?I know it makes a big difference if you move the mic from the center slowly outward. I like the first one myself,,maybe mixing these speakers together would give a nice accent. As I have a bluemarvel and an eminece governor in a 2x12 cab that sounds great!!

  • @paraglidermx i think it was 1-2 inches from the cone :)

  • @GuitarRazze OK,,cone meaning the middle?Sorry I have to do a little research on speaker anatomy LOL!! I did notice on another vid that the tone sounded the best with the mic just off center of the speaker ;-)

  • @GuitarRazze Nice comparison and I surprised you got such a tight tone out of a valveking, I had one of those it wasn't bad but a little loose. Do you think a typical modern amp such as a Marshal JVM410 has enough variance in the EQ to compensate for the differences fairly closely. Like if I were to get a cabinet loaded with all 4 of either speaker and try to compensate for what I like better about the other model by getting somewhere right in the middle? Thanks

  • I prefer G12T-75. Thank you.

  • @amihol No problem!

  • I thought the first one sounded better :O

  • @ravenshield56 V30 is overrated, everyone thinks its the best speaker but theres alot more speakers out there than v30.

Glad you liked it, i personally like the g12t75 myself.

  • rock = g12t75 , metal = v30

  • @OPPAIEXPLORER g12t75 is also good for metal, metallica used this on ride the lightning and master of puppets

  • love it! thanks for the vid! :D i subscribed as well! nice videos!

  • Thanks for this video, I'm sure it's helped more people than me =)

  • no its the reverse, g12t75 have more mids and the v30 has more bass...

  • @nunofrg sorry but i cant agree with you.

  • @GuitarRazze cmon dude lol everybody knows that the g12t75 are a truly famous normal rock speaker therefore needs good mids and not so much of lows. check celestion website

  • @nunofrg i own the both speakers, v30's have definetly more mids (atleast high mids)

t75 have a little scooped curve in the mids .

  • @nunofrg it's more complicated then that. the g12 has certain mid spikes where the v30 doesn't have them, and vice versa. g12 has a honky kinda uper bass making it seem bassier to some people while v30 has more of a low bass (to my ear, at the moment, every time i compare speakers i end up with a different conclusion). depends on who you talk to, but in the end no speaker simply has more treble, mids or bass then another.

  • What the F**K is it with you metal guys... It's like the ONLY tones you showcase comparing the speaker are metal tones. It would be much better if you showed a range of sounds, clean, classic rock break up, then heavier.

  • @bongerbob Well then this video isnt for you, bye bye.

  • G12 T100 all the way,not 75. ;) I have 4xT100 box. :)

  • Nice demo. I think I'm gonna get the 6505 combo (60 watt, 1x12) and pull the chassis like I did with my classic 30 and put it in a head cabinet (there is no 60 watt head version) and drive my mini-stack (T-75 and a 70/80) with a dynamic on each speaker and a condenser a few feet back. I considered the VK, but it lacks something that I can't quite put my finger on.

  • How about clean tones... comon

  • THANKS MAN!!. This little snippet helped me a thousand times over . I was torn between V 30's and the g12t. but had no side by side to give me a clear idea what I really wanted.

  • Get the best of both worlds by putting 2 V30´s & 2 G12T-75´s in the same 4x12 in a X pattern...rounds out the harsh mids V30´s are known for and adds tightness the 75's lack...

  • thnak you so much, that reconfirm that I need g12t-75 for extreme metal. which the v30's are also very good, but not for me. Hanneman uses only 1960B and Modefour cabs. no vintages. Mustaine often uses 1960bv. easy choice, finnally.

  • G12T-75 sounds better for metal...V30 might be better for blues

  • Somebody say Peavey? I effin' LOVE my VTM60-check my vid!

-BTW-thx for the shootout-answered my question!

  • @buckerking Awesome tone man!!!

  • I own a 2x12 cab with 2 Jensen G12K2 speakers that were too muddy, full of low frequencies and low mids, no bright sound at all. I was always 'submerged' in the mix. I went for one V30 because the other guitarist used to have a 2x12 cab with two V30 in it. The sound of the band got slightly better. Then the other guitarist went away. I found that my V30 is too focused on high frequencies and covered the other speaker, so I changed the V30 with a G12-T75. Way much better.

  • G12T-75 all the way.

  • The Vintage 30 sounds like shit compared to the other one.

  • awsome pair for a 2x12

  • i can't standy shitty peaveys

  • @emoboi311 I didnt ask you to watch this...

Ur not even good enough at guitar to have a valveking haha...

  • @GuitarRazze those videos are so old 3 or 4 years. i don't have any gear anymore...fucking peavey's are pieces of shit

  • @emoboi311 u mad bro?

btw, the 1 year old videos are pretty SHIT also.

Go buy a line 6 if you want your shit muddy digital tone. Btw PEAVEY's FUCKING RULE UR ASS!!!

  • @GuitarRazze i only have a first act. i used to have a vox the tone i get interfere's with the camera's signal i can't explain it you can hear it in my video the way it messes up secondly i hate line 6's i want mesa boogies or marshall jcm 2000 dsl. and krank revolutions not this shitty ass edgey trebley tone that sucks

  • @emoboi311 This is a old demo, this was when i got into micing guitar cabs.

  • The really sick thing that i have found is that speakers sound different in different cabinets...Using close proximity miking on a speaker greatly reduces the effect, but if you are just listening and not using a mic, the differences are amazing. So, if you are going to mic a speaker through a PA system, be sure to listen to it through a board, with the exact mic you are going to use and through the PA speakers. Then determine if that is the sound you want. If you aren't using a mic, use ears!

  • Sounds harsh as hell, dude. What did you mic it with?

  • @CyValkarion I know, i didnt use a low pass filter. i used a sm57

  • @GuitarRazze Ever tried a Heil PR-20?

  • @CyValkarion No, i have only tried the sm57 ( and i have it )

  • A 6505 w/ a Mesa C90 would be nice to try.

  • couldnt you get a nice custom clend if you installed 2 g12t 75 watts with the vintage 30's? would it sound good with the best of both worlds? or should i just stick with 4 of the same speakers?

  • @xxsladedethxx it will be more versatile if you are recording so, yes

  • @xxsladedethxx i mean you should change the 2 speakers

  • Wow that's a real stark difference.

  • I use the Marshall 1960 A Cab and I like it lots of people telling me that Vintage 30's sound so much better and bla bla no fence but I want to have the sound the way I like it for my style so I don't care about what somebdoy else wants to tell me I don't hate any speaker just everyone's preference

  • @DerekBeck87 i also like the g12t 75 better with my amp, but for example the v30 can sound really horrible on a 6505 for example because both are very middy, i like to have both in my cab so i can have different sounds when micing :)

  • @GuitarRazze Ye I know lots of 6505 players using V30's I always found it to be kinda harsh there's better speakers to fit with or you combine the V30's with the G12t 75 or something else only then I like the sound of V 30's hehe since they are not as old as some people might think 1986 is not the 60's or 70's ;)

  • i dont mean to be lame, but truthfully i prefer both cabs mixed i think that sounds the best overall, imho. i also use a sure sm57 and a senheiser e609 together. overall the result is a pretty thick sounding track.

  • @EMGlespaulMESA They are in the same cab, look my new video, theres more.

  • @GuitarRazze lol im an idiot.

  • @EMGlespaulMESA Don't worry ;)

  • gt is harder.. better

  • Trapped under iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiccccccceeee! :)

  • Vey good explanation, i was stuck between buying a 1960a or 1960av cab for my marshall dsl 100. Now ive decided. 1960av very nice. Thanks.

  • Thank you for just playing one after the other instead of talking for 15 minutes!

  • More cow bell is needed.

  • I love the T75

  • Yes indeed the G12T-75 sounds like Ride the Lightning. But how strange isn't it that a Valve King can sound like Metallica? The ones I heard around here sound like Nu-metal with a ton more bass.

  • @clampBendersWangdang Haha I dont know :D

  • @clampBendersWangdang Does anyone know what speakers James actually used on Ride the Lightning? The answer I always get is: "MARSHALL!" Not helping... I'm pretty sure he uses vintage 30's now, but what about back then?

  • @gram440a he used a stock 1960 cab, which IS loaded with g12t75's.

  • @GuitarRazze Ah, thanks very much! I probably have to buy new speakers now...

  • @gram440a Cool!

  • @gram440a Sorry i misread you comment, he used g12t75 on ride the lightning atleast, nowadays he probably uses v30, but you gotta remember, some amps suit better with v30 or vice versa

  • @gram440a If we take starting point in the Marshall cabinets that early Metallica used we can come down to 3 types of speakers. V30, G12T-75 or Greenbacks. We can exclude the Greenbacks because they only reside in the old vintage kinda clothed cabinets and Metallica never used those. The V30 and G12T cabinets were very similar with mostly the emblem differing. Soundwise I'd say It would be a typical Marshall 1960 Lead cabinet because old Metallica does NOT sound like a V30. Newer Metallica do

  • @clampBendersWangdang Plus, from what I've read V30's didn't exist until 1986, so that rules them out for Ride the Lightning 1984. That's really the kind of information I've been trying to round up.

  • Good work, mate. It's nice not having to sit through some wanky explanation about shit. I just want to hear the comparison! Awesome stuff. Well done.

  • thank you for the simple, to-the-point, and no bullshit comparison.

  • wow what i difference O.o

  • Nice demo!

  • @electrickithara Thanks i appreciate those kind of comments!

  • The 75's better to my ear ... the 30's are thin.

  • good video man, thanks!

  • @jordan13555666 thank you :D

  • just to the point.....thanks

  • @frans688 No problem!

  • I like both, to be honest I was going to get a pair of V30's for my VK212 but I think I might get one of each. Sounds like the mid range spike in the 30 would supplement the semi-scooped G12T75 and give me the best of both worlds. I have heard the G12T75 was a bad match for the VK as the top end is really fizzy and this amp has a shrill top end. But I think the R100 mod would fix that. Hm. Decisions decisions,

  • @TylerAllain Yeah, The t75 is a little ice picky

  • sounds like the g12 has more balls to it, and the V30 is thinner sounding(at least to my ears)

  • Disagree: the g12t75 isn't a scooped mid sound,

  • @jst601 well, not so much scooped, but its one of the most scooped speakers on the market.

  • 30

  • 75!

  • @Iamboott It sounds alot like ride the lightning :D
