Maria Callas herself said that she never played this role (There's the audio of her teaching (or coaching) "o zittre nicht"). She says it clearly.

But I don't know if you're talking about her, so if you are not just discard my comment :)

@artdanks Callas absolutely never sand the konigen...she sang Konstanze's "marten aller arten" in concert (renamed "Tutte le torture") and perhaps that is what you are thinking of.
