@sntcrl I know who she is. I wouldn't say she's as good at deconstructing feminism as she is at putting her own anti-feminist slant on it...especially if she's using SCUM Manifest as an example. I've heard her quote a "feminist" and the quote is actually from a character in that feminists book, and therefore doesn't represent the writer at all.
I think if you try to read real feminist literature, then you'll see that it's really nothing like how it's portrayed. (btw, gaga = not a feminist)

One of her main ideas is that, yes, women have been oppressed by men but that it's also true vice versa because women are the limiting factor of procreation and this is what made men the hunter-gatherers because that was the genetic path of least resistance and so we all fell into gender roles.

@sntcrl Oh and the women being the limiting factor on child birth is another example of a half-assed argument. It makes sense when they mention it, however it doesn't make sense in the context of society. Women had to be virgins for their husbands, and they were expected to give their body to that man for the rest of their lives. Divorce and adultery were not an option for women. Illegitimate children had to be covered up. if it's one man and one woman, then there's no limiting factor.

It just means that men were more likely to get eaten by a cougar and women were less likely to be given the same responsibilities in order to prevent them from getting eaten by a cougar. It might be considered mutual oppression but, really, this system benefited both genders because it improved the chances of perpetuating the species.
@sntcrl Gender roles could explain why men ended up being the ones in those positions of ruling class and government officials. It could also explain why maybe the genders started seeing their roles as a kind of currency. So men would offer provision in exchange for women's reproductive capabilities and this eventually turned into a kind of contract where the woman must be a virgin. But this is happening much further into the future when people are suddenly capable of making shit up.

Whereas feminists strive to achieve equality between men and women, so both sexes are first class citizens of every country, it seems to me that originally Masculinists were simply interested in reversing attempts to achieve equality, and keep men the superior sex.

I've heard her quote a "feminist" and the quote is actually from a character in that feminists book, and therefore doesn't represent the writer at all.
I think if you try to read real feminist literature, then you'll see that it's really nothing like how it's portrayed. (btw, gaga = not a feminist)

One of her main ideas is that, yes, women have been oppressed by men but that it's also true vice versa because women are the limiting factor of procreation and this is what made men the hunter-gatherers because that was the genetic path of least resistance and so we all fell into gender roles.

It makes sense when they mention it, however it doesn't make sense in the context of society. Women had to be virgins for their husbands, and they were expected to give their body to that man for the rest of their lives. Divorce and adultery were not an option for women. Illegitimate children had to be covered up. if it's one man and one woman, then there's no limiting factor.

It could also explain why maybe the genders started seeing their roles as a kind of currency. So men would offer provision in exchange for women's reproductive capabilities and this eventually turned into a kind of contract where the woman must be a virgin.
