maybe everybody was mad with waters at the time this album was relesed and that's why 'the final cut' wasn't that much of a succes -it is almost entirely a waters creation. but i started listening to it before i knew about their band problems... and i think is their most sensitive album and also one of their best.

@robowing25 You are absolutely right here. I remember when this came out i didnt really like it. So i gave it about 20 to 30 listens and i finally got it. It was so poignant in its day... and with the exceptions of a few names it could have been released yesterday and still be spot on with all the shit going on in our world. Waters may be an arrogant ass but he is a genius non the less. THIS ALBUM in my opinion is Floys BEST!!

They decided 3 was too many and released the wall with some songs cut out, hince this is the final cut. I do believe only 3 of the songs were written just for this album. The David Gilmour one at the end of course, and 2 others...

In the past, I heard "The Final Cut" was originally supposed to be a part of "The Wall" Due to the length of the album and I THINK other reasons too, the full album was split into two and this is where we get this most wonderful piece of musical art!

I'm all for "to each his own interpretation" in music, but it's really sad that after all these years, the only people still listening to Pink Floyd seem to be either hardcore drug abusers (Comfortably Numb) or self-cutting emos (The Final Cut). What about the progressive society that the band fought for in Animals? What about the personal harmony and the Dark Side of the Moon? Pink Floyd's message is grossly misinterpreted these days.
