I say they need to learn american hip-hop because that style of dance was originated here, you would be remiss to attempt that style without learning it from its creators.

@markbib28 I still stand by my first comment. Even more so now. I don't actually like this routine, at all but I wouldn't go as far putting "britian" under a sterotype with such criticism. Thats all its basically about. And who is to say they haven't studied the orginality of hip hop? To become great at anything such as dance, singing, acting what have you, everyone switches it up. Innovation helps create greatness, if we all did the same shit, nothing would be amazing.

@missincognito1 I'm sorry @markbib28 is right. just because it has a hip hop beat, this is not a hip hop dance. This dance is missing the fundamental steps of hip hop. The key to hip hop dancing is to ride the beat, to become the beat, to hit the beat. Not glide with the beat. This choregrapher has not studied the fundamentals of hip hop. And its not innivation, because it is just lyrical contemp w/ a hip hop song. Watch will and courtney, like you never see me again .real lyrical hip hop.

@TheAray6 Im sorry 2, because this is actually lyrical hip hop- it is a completly different style of dance compared to hip hop. The key to this is fluidity & interpretation of the beat. There actually not supposed "hit the beat" as you say- thats hip hop... and they are supposed to glide... there is a degree of popping isolations and the other basics of hip hop but the dance is meant to look like its unwinding... and the music is more down tempo.

@missincognito1 You are wrong. The key in lyrical hip hop or in any lyrical dance is to the lyrics- i.e term lyrical- to guide the story behind the dance.Not the beat. And since this is a lyrical hip hop & the focus of hip hop is the beat. lyrical hip hop is combining the two meanings. They are suppose to hit the beat like in hip hop and use the lyrical meaning. lyrical hip hop and regular hip hop aren't different b/c then lyrical hip hop wouldn't be called hip hop. this is lyrical contemp.

OMG have Britts not been exposed to anything? that was horrible? That wasn't even dancing. The girl can't even kick straight!!! she kicked with a bent knee...Who does that????? not even armatures do that when they are TrYING to look professional. The girl dancers are not only inflexible they don't have rhythm either...

@adesa1 It's a hip hop routine, not contemporary. They're stylized very differently. If you watch her perform other routines, her lines and extensions are flawless. But with this particularly piece, the choreographer did not want straight lines.

I agree though, the British version of SYTYCD sucks. A lot of the routines are horrible, not to mention a lot easier, than the ones presents in the American version.
