i can't help but wonder why they use a low friction surface and seemingly the material for the robots' feet as well for a competition like this. Doesn't that naturally make the designs uninteresting by default if the goal is to knock the opponent down?

I'm dumbfounded. I understand people inviting robotic vacuums into their house. They look cute and provide a service.
