I've always loved the baroque styled piano part & the loosely strung guitar strumming. Add that with the girlish backing vocal and the lush orchestration you'd think if you saw that all on paper it sound a mess, but it's actually VERY original & very well put together.

@guyNbluejeans I'm not a mindless fool. I know that this song is magnificant. That was my reply the this was the Stones' reply to SGt Pepper and that Pepper is leaps and bound beyond Their Satanic Majestiys Request. Thats all. The Stones have many great songs I love I just believe in my opinion that the Beatles and Sgt Pepper was the greatest of all time. Its just my opinion!!!!
@guyNbluejeans Throught the past is a compilattion greatest hits album isn't it. Beggars Banquet and Let it Bleed are great albums, I love Gimme Shelter. One of my favorites!!!!!
@amerocker No, this originally was on "Their Satanic Majesties Request" fold out, with holographic cover, (pictured) in '67.It was also on 'Through the past', which was two years later in '69, was octogonal fold out, dadicated to Brian Jones, and was the only album with "Honky Tonk Women" on it...
@nexpia I do appreciate the music, and I didn't say they wanted to be like the Beatles, I said that they were trying to keep up with the Beatles making a psychadelic album which is what everyone wanted to do in 1967 after the Beatles released Sgt Peppers on the 1st of June.
"She's a Rainbow" is a song by The Rolling Stones and was featured on their 1967 album Their Satanic Majesties Request.
Written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, "She's a Rainbow" was recorded on 18 May 1967. It is most famous for its vibrant piano by Nicky Hopkins and Brian Jones' use of the mellotron.
John Paul Jones, later of Led Zeppelin, arranged the strings of this song during his session days.
Despite rumours, none of The Beatles performs on this track.
Just to get this right,Hopkins played the piano.JPJ Did the String arrangement.I got this info from the original sheet music that i have had since 1967.Just be cool, this is the best alblum to smoke by!!(my opinion) My info is correct!.
@Dancerpaw before i insult you to amuse myself .. quick question -are you a female? and are YOU one of these infamous female ejaculation creatures ?????? thanks
@ChrisHansenNBC1 she actually squirted?? like full on male ejaculation across the bedroom ?? that is nasty jesus christ the song is ruined for me now . ewwww im a guy and im the only one that the doucing in my relationship
like seriously full on sprays of cum?? how do women even do that ??
Faz parte da Banda sonora da minha vida.Ouvia pela primeira vez estava eu no Pacifico( que saudades) e a "desconstrucção" harmónica que conseguiram fez-me pensar em Arnold Schoenberg e fiquei maravilhado.
@brucekimerer I'm not gonna say that I totally agree with you, but I will make a note of that in the description. I've read numerous sources say that John Paul Jones did the piano (like in the Forty Licks booklet) and in some, I've heard Nicky Hopkins did the piano. But I've heard a lot more people say that JPJ did the piano, so I'm leaving it how it is. However, I will make a note. Thanks for the comment.
@mariofarecraft2 I say that based on the Hopkins biography "...and on piano, Nicky Hopkins" by Julian Dawson: " Nicky's most memorable moment is on side two's opener 'She's a Rainbow,' where his distinctive neo-classical piano intros and beautiful soloing over John Paul Jones' string arrangements make for one of the album's few genuine highlights."
@mariofarecraft2 john paul jones did the orchestrations for the whole album, he played piano, keyboards and even a little bass, its even said he did much of the production, since this is the only stones album to be entirely produced by themselves, JPJ was a behind the scenes force in the studio, this album couldnt have been done without him!
One of the greatest Stones ever, great tunes, it's concept was to rival the Beatles Sgt. Pepper and Magical Mystery Tour. btw, I still have the original LP of this album with the 3D optical plastic cover on the front...trippy...wasn't until after I had seen the cover with the plasic optical removed, did I see they have pics of the Beatles hidden in there
@TGDaBoyz I didn't know they were on there, either. On my dad's copy of this album, it only shows George and John. But on this picture, it shows (from left to right) Paul, George, John, and Ringo. Another thing about The Beatles and The Stones: John Lennon and Paul McCartney sang backup on two of the tracks on Their Satanic Majesties Request ("Sing This All Together" and "She's A Rainbow") and on both sides of their 13th UK/US single ("We Love You" and "Dandelion"). Just a fun fact.
@mariofarecraft2 I've heard that John and Paul weren't really on this song, and I've heard they are on this song, so that's why I put the question marks in the description. I've also heard Mick Jagger did backing vocals on The Beatles' "Baby You're A Rich Man", but I don't hear him. Maybe he is on there, but his part is buried in the mix. You just never know. The only people that would know would be Mick, Keith, Charlie, Bill or Paul.
@demonhoopa Thanks for the info! I believe he also arranged the orchestra on this track, too. FYI, that is why I put ?s after John's and Paul's names. Thanx for the comment!

The closest they ever got to sounding like the Beatles. BTW: Both bands are way totally beyond awesome!!!
