the only issue i have with the brass block for my edge pro on my ibanez is that it limits me with pull ups now but other than that the block is amazing. awesome work adam!
@camel747 i agree i like the stock one better becuz it sounds clearer, i recently took my STOCK block out of my JACKSON SL3 and put a BRASS BLOCK but it sounds darker and doesnt do the EMG SAs any justice and i also put different pickups in the Bridge like the EMG 81, the DiMarzio Super Distortion, the DiMarzio PAF, the Seymour Duncan TB-12, and the Lace Sensor Silver/Red humbucker and i still dont like the Brass on it, it kills the Signature sound of the pickups. IMO

There is definitely a difference, but I myself don't care for the brass,it seems too heavy on the mids to me.Just MHO...isnt titanium brighter sounding?
I'm really not sold, that make the sound more ample but so much more less focused... like a big reverb... or do you have a big reverb ? would you be stupid enough to put a reverb in line...
AWESOME UPGRADE! I just put mine in my guitar. This is an upgrade for tone connoisseurs. If you own a floyd rose guitar and you don't do this, why own a floyd rose guitar? We should thank Adam he used his genius to help us improve the floyd rose and dispel the myth that floyds kill tone!
Maybe next time, they should take off all that delay and reverb. It's sounds louder with the brass, but not necessarily better, I do think it sounded fuller, but on the dirty, it was messy.. The stock blcok was tighter and more focused. You can always turn your amp up and get some more from the tubes, that tends to make the amps sound bettter.
I have a block that I made for my 2 point fender Strat bridge from 1080 cold rolled steel. The steel makes it sound much brighter but in a good way and incredibly loud acoustically and electrically. I made mine so that the bridge would be decked flat on the body even if I removed the springs. Its blocked you could say and I love it. Brass I think would be better if your guitar was already too bright to knock the highs off of it by warming it up a bit. But I still prefer steel over brass.
Hope you can help me with something. I have a Licensed Tremolo with a 34 mm block and I'm thinking about change it for a Schaller Floyd Rose with a 42 mm block. Do you think that it's possible?
I took a quick test and, in the terms of the cavity, the Schaller seems to make it. But it also seems that my Ibanez RG body it's a little thinner 'cause the 42 mm block goes out the back for a few. Would that be a problem in the future?
I wonder why he didn't play any leads with the first demo before the big block installation? He went a little bit more technical after the install. I'm not sure this is a good comparison. Does the guitar lose some treble after the installation? I play alot of metal and lead so I like the idea of tone but don't want to lose treble either. I have a BC RICH ASM pro with Original Floyd and EMG 85 and 81 with neckthru. I am interested in the big block but the intonation part looks kind tricky.
Just curious if you have looked into using tungsten carbide for the block? I sell jewellery made from the stuff and it's pretty amazing, extremely dense and heavy. It would be interesting to see it's effect on tone.
@friggetyfuck I believe it would. I have an old original Kramer with the brass bridge(super soft) The saddles were so soft they had huge grooves from the strings. I filed grooves sideways like a V, then simply glued 6 small carbide pieces from a drill bit shank into the groove. Now the string rides on a perfect radius made of the toughest shit ever. Never will it make a line or groove again. Surprisingly the difference in tone was amazing. Sustain increased dramatically. Carbide block? Let's try
The ROM of a floyd is primarily determined by the size of the block and the cavity. I am 99% certain that the larger block will reduce the ROM because it will contact the walls of the cavity sooner; your block looks to be at least twice as thick and modestly longer than standard blocks.
Furthermore, the density of brass is nearly twice that of titanium, so I am not sure why one would ever choose titanium over brass if their goal is increased sustain?
@jesterraj sounds like it is resonating and bouncing off of the springs? try to hear where it is really coming from, if you explain it a little more i might be able to help you figure it out
Hey dude, I get the same with my floyd equipped axe. What I did was found an old wrist sweat-band of mine and cut it in half, then I opened up the back of my axe and pushed it underneath all the springs, so it sits between the wood and the springs and basically absorbs the natural reverb that they produce. I now have a nice, controlled sound and actually it doesn't really have a negative affect on my tone either. A nice, cheap solution! Give it a go! ;)

@JYZProductions this was done by guitar wold, they wanted to do guitar stock and with the brass block. There are other postings on youtube of people doing tests with different blocks. On the favorites part of the page Dakota Plays Guitar did a demo where he does stock, brass, and titanium all in the same guitar on the same amp settings.
@camel747 I agree. But like you stated there is a significant difference in the upgrade. Not as clear as the stock block which is not a bad thing but you can tell that the upgrade has way more sustain. It's like you have have to put a bit and bridle on the sustain because it may get out of control. I have this block and will put it on my So Cal when it arrives. Peace! Oh yea, thanks for comparison numbers!
@camel747 I prefer the snappy tone of the stock Floyd block which has more character IMO. The upgrade sounds more ballsy and warm, similar to a Les Paul, but lacks that extra something.
@guitarfreak122 watch the Which size block should i order? ANSWERS and how to... video on this channel to help answer that. The quick answer is know your type of tremolo (original floyd, ibanez edge, ect) find the block on the site, then measure from the base plate down to see what size block will fit
@xXxassassinatorxXx What do u mean it had a floyd originally? Whats in it now? The size of the cavity should be the same so a block would fit fine, but what kind of bridge is in there now?
If he's leaving the amp settings the same as the beginning, I'm quite surprised by the huge tone difference. It should bring out new discussions focused on the effects of hardware on the tone, not just the wood and pickups.
What size is the Brass L Sustain Block installed in this video? I know it is mentioned that the 37mm is removed, but I don't remember hearing what size is installed. Thanks
Adam is the man! He just hooked me up with the 37mm L block and trem stopper for my Charvel. Love the fatter tone. Adam is a pleasure to deal with. Have any questions? Send him an E-mail. Thanx again NEIGHBOR.
Clarity and presence is a better way to describe it than glass and treble, when you hear a titanium block you will understand, you can hear every note of a chord, while still sounding bigger and fuller than the stock block. Different mm's because some routes for guitars cant fit larger than 32 mms, sometimes they can fit bigger ones such as the 37 or 42mm, more mm more tone! Pulling back shouldnt be an issue because your block goes towards your springs, where there will be room with any block.
Does the titanium block have more treble and glass response? and why exactly do you have different mm's? does the 42mm make effect how much you can pull up?
Damn it , Adam...You got me by the short and curlies...There is no price you can put on great tone. I'm not talking about decent tone. I'm talking about the seriously spine-tingling shit. My titanium block made such a profound difference that I totally get the quasi-magical resonant qualities of titanium. I just don't have the scratch to make that a reality right now. Come to think of it, I do have an extra kidney that is just sitting there waiting for the highest bidder ala blackmarket. LOL
@FloydUpgrades yes, it is just how i like to do such A-B tests, no effects at all, unless i want to see how it performs with a particular kind of tone :)
Awesome guys!! Glad to hear that there are others that are into raising the bar on their tone and open minded enough to try new stuff. Right now, I am rocking a titanium big block, titanium string lock blocks, stainless steel string lock screws, SS intonation screws, and Graphtech saddles. The Graphtech saddles are pretty cool. The tone is warm and and there is a noticeable increase in sustain. I will be getting the titanium saddles as soon as I can afford them. Or they go on sale. LOL
@medoogle glad to hear you are into the titanium, theres nothing like it. As for the titanium saddles, yes they are expensive but they will increase your tone 10 fold, can you really put a price on tone? haha
I got a titanium block and it is truly an effective innovation. It enhances the overall clarity and note separation. Every note speaks articulately and with surprising focus and pop. If you like distortion, you can really crank it up and still hear every harmonic detail. it ignites pinch harmonics like nothing else. Some say it might be too bright. I say learn how to use the EQ on your amp. Those knobs turn for a reason. LOL. Adam Reiver is also a genuinely nice guy and a pleasure to work with!
@medoogle the titanium saddles have the same kind of effect, when i heard them i thought WOW, on a distortion sound each note rings out loud and clear, i dont think it sounds tinny at all, its just a differnt metal, and boy does it sound good. Brass block+titanium saddles is the ultimate setup. A titanium block on its own is amazing also
