  • thats weird my first name is nina and i also play the flute thats cool and im kind of a band geek ssoo ya but your awsome

  • oops. I mean it's usually angled in orchestras

  • right.... so i dont play the flute , confused over whether it should be paralel or not , lol , but great playing none the less!!!

  • In marching bands it's parallel because it looks proper but for orchestras it's usually parallel.

  • SORRY IM JUST ELEVEN

  • Wow, you're awesome, I play the flute but I wish I could play as well as you.

What kind of Flute do you have?

  • Oops, I didn't notice that you said the type of Flute at the end of the video....sorry :P

  • As a flute player and Instructer, i must agree that better posture is just...better. It will increase airflow.

  • are you kidding me? try again on that one.

  • Well, she's standing up, and her posture's fine.

And her flute position is fine, her audience won't care whether or not her flute is parallel to the damn ground.

  • actually no, keeping the flute parallel to the ground is bad. It strains the air flow.

  • Congrats! Break a leg.

  • one time, in band camp...

  • LOL

  • you are pretty sweet and hot

  • amm im only young but she looks like a aduly that would alredy have a boyfriend/ husbind so this is what im going 2 say

  • jeez like everybody on that list are so schooled. I'd like to see some genius up there that have had no formal teaching, that would be interesting.

  • Congratulations, Dr. Perlove, from Detroit! :)

  • Um.....well......

  • your hot

  • It's a cool video, I really enjoyed it very much. You look beautiful with a flute.( thank you for your comment to my video)I think we'll soon meet

  • ur so pretty....

  • Hey Nina. I've been watching your videos and I love your flute playing. I watch your videos all the time and have learned a lot from them! I was watching this particular video and you mentioned that you are from Ann Arbor, Michigan. I was wondering if you would happen to be a Sigma Alpha Iota sister, because that is where the fraternity was founded. I'm a member of SAI and just thought it would be really cool, even if you aren't a member, if you've had any contact with the fraternity :]

  • alishb14: YES, I was in SAI alpha chapter and I am now a life member.

  • That is amazing. I am going to mention you in my chapter meeting this Sunday! :]

  • Thanks NIna, You have inspired me in ways you might not imagine. I am playing my guitar more and when it comes to my grandchildren, I encourage the exposure to "making music" to them and their parents. I fully support keeping music and instruments in our schools. I have always appreciated flutes, though guitar is my choice (pitiful at it!), but my daughter learned in school to play flute and I encourage her to pick it back up... sorry for all the words, but I want to encourage you too! Kp it up!

  • You're cute!

  • Hey, that's funny. Ann Arbor, Michigan is a sister city of Tübingen, Germany (where I come from).

  • Yes Stefan, it is, and that is why I performed there in 1989 with my school orchestra! It is a lovely town.

  • Hi, It was very nice looking at your video, see you in NY:)

  • Nina YOU ARE GREAT!!!!!!!

  • good work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • NO FAIR I CAN'T HEAR A FRICKIN' THING!!

  • violinstx100: sorry, my recording volume level got a little messed up on this one, I boosted it as much as I could on my end...but on my computers when I play this video back if I just turn my computer volume up I can hear it fine.

  • oh OK! I understand

I LOVED the beging tune!!! VERY JAZZY!!! IN A WAY

I'M IN JAZZ BAND AS LEAD FLUTIST!!!!

  • congratulations Nina from Chile

  • Congratulations Nina!! :D I've been honored with being able to perform in Carnegie Hall with my orchestra and it is just a breathtaking experience. You'll love it so much! I wish you the best! :)

  • Oh, wow. You've been all over the continent, huh? :) We're all extremely appreciative to have you on YouTube and can't wait to get more updates from you!

  • YOU are very inspiring. I have played flute for like three years now. :/ You are awesome. Everyone tells me i have wonderful tone on my flute, bbut i still need to learn my scales. I am last chair, but at a competitong, I got an even better score than the first three chairs, and I was told i play the best, but i really don't know.

  • GOSH! That is an impressive bio :) Just glad that you got in

  • You are an inspiration to us all. Yrs ago, I studied with Katherine Hoover a wonderful composer and great teacher. Good luck in NY

  • Good Job Nina!! have fun you inspire me!

  • my band director put a poster of you on the wall in the band room today! i've watched your videos for a very long time, thank you for everything you do :O)

  • the first song reminded me soo much of my marching band days

i still visit my old middle school :]

Carnegie is an amazing place to preform.

    you're great nina!

  • It really irritates me when people say "flutist", even though I know it's just as correct a term as "flautist". Like when I meet someone new and get onto the subject of music, and my flute-playing, they always go "Oh, you're a flutist?"

    Me: Yeah, flautist.

    Person: Oh...

I dunno, 'flautist' just sounds better to me.

    Meh.

  • PS You're awesome, Nina. :)

  • Flutist is actually the older term... flautist came later.

Leave it to the flutist to try to make themselves sound more important. :-p

I'm only teasing, dear. Sort of.

  • If you look back at my original comment, you'll see that I mention that I DO play the flute. And I don't use the term to sound more important, it's just the one I like the sound of more, despite the fact that I know "it's just as correct a term" as "flutist", which I said previously. Read it properly before replying.

  • Why don't you read what I said? I didn't say that much, so it should have been easy to understand. And I know you said you like the sound of the term, hence "leave it to flutists to try to make themselves sound more important."

Good job! You're an ass. Relax. I was only teasing, anyway.

  • Dr.Perlove lovely video! Again, Congratulations! I'm happy that you made it to Carnegie Hall.

  • I don't think that piece sits well on flute; New York New York...and it's corny too.

  • Do you hate flautists? or the bad flautists?

Because if you do, you'd hate my playing flute.

  • I like good flutists.

    Why not become one, Rsmith19756?

While you're at it; why not come up with a name that doesn't sound like it came right out of the novel 1984.

The word flautists is so old fashioned...come on get with it.

  • ha ur funny! Look man, or whoever you are. Don't want no trouble, just wanted to know. You know a lot about music so why not ask?

Trust me, becoming a good flautist ain't so easy. as it looks.

I'd rather not spam on Dr. Perlove's Video, so you can either message me, or if you have a myspace, I'll try to find you.

  • Nina, we love you, and it was so nice to hear about your life and love for music. Congratulations!

  • Hey nina, you got two handsome flautist/piccoloist to accompany you heh heh :D

  • And oh yeah it's amazing how you can remember all those names lol!!

  • your super lucky to have done all those things when you were young...i want to major in flute performance and be an orchestra performer...but everything is so exspensive im probably going to do something else when i graduate high school :C

  • Keep the video coming while you're in NY.

  • congrats...I voted for you...I wish I was as good as you

  • CONGRATULATIONS!!! NINA! I knew you would be accepted! -Dennis

  • I knew you would make it Nina. There was no doubt.

Your title is Dr. Perlove? WOW! Cant wait to see you int e orchestra!

  • wow congrats!! I voted for you

  • Congratulations! You must tell us all about YouTube Symphony orchestra!

    Also: Keep sharing :)

  • Congratulation on making the YouTube Symphony!

i'm not a flutist but I have been enjoying your YouTube instruction videos.

You deserve the acclaim you have been receiving.

  • Good luck at Carnegie!

Glad to see that my vote counted.

  • Congratulations on being selected! I'm not a flute player (yet), but I've been playing the clarinet for 7 1/2 years. In the fall I'll begin studying music education at UNH. The public school system hasn't offered me much support in my pursuit of music, so I've really relied on outside influences like Youtube for inspiration. I've enjoyed watching your videos and will surely watch them much more when I eventually learn the flute, so thank you for all you've posted! :-)

  • Nina, you are such a special person to take the time like this with all of us on youtube. Take care and have a great day!
