Okay. I don't know why people are not saying this was better than Kelly's version. Hands down it IS the better version! Kelly approached it with way too much vibrato in the beginning. It lacked a crescendo quality that remains in this version. Regardless of whether she were hoarse or not, Lil sang this song better. And Lil's subtle mid-range got the vulnerability of this song on the dot! Not many artists can do that.

by watching american idol, I've learned that you MUST have these three qualities in order to win the competition:

1) Talent (great voice,range etc.)

2) Personality(good-looking,appea­l to audience etc.)

3) Originality(you must sing a great song with your own version of it and NOT being a copycat of the original singer

Lil is an excellent vocalist, but really, Celine is the only singer who can pull this song off. Her vocals are flawless (and it especially seen in her Live From Las Vegas performance). THANK YOU! When it comes to melisma, Lil Rounds is the master out of all of the Top 9 because of her R&B/gospel background which relies on it. Plus, because of that, her ear allows her to adjust the melody of a song with melisma to open up the key changes and chordal arrangements. I bet on her first CD, she'll be much more melismatic due to AI being critics on the use of it.
