Hey Dod3032, are you using the the Transcend 16 GB Class 10?? The one that costs around 35$ ? I'm going to order it and I'm wondering if it can handle qscale -16 or -15.
i have a 16gb transcend sd card and when i try to access the card, the folder names do not appear and i'm not able to add any files to it, more importantly the .fir file required to format the card. Do you know what i could do to fix this?

If i were you and wanted to install this again i would look for the newest upgrade to see if it comes with less bugs.
@thebroadcastviewer AGC doesn't mean audio will be turned off, it just means you can now manually control the audio levels. You can turn off the audio by turning down the volume in the Magic Lantern Audio menu
I can't seem to update to the latest version of Magic Lantern. When I replace the files with the new ones, the camera stays black when on. I would really appreciate the help.
can i just delete all the files or format the card if i want to uninstall magic lantern??..i'd like to upgrade to the new one but I dont want to risk bricking my camera by just installing it on top of the old one..rather be safe and start from scratch

When previewing a recorded piece of footage it does not display but I would like not to see it when filming so I get a better idea of what I am looking at. Can anyone explain this to me?

Well this is weird. You see, I installed the firmware and files directly to the SD card (16 gig Kingston to be exact)
Unfortunately, I didn't see any sort of ISO and Shutter options in the menu and I couldn't change it like I would normally do, using the wheel on the camera.
It was a great tool, but I decided to install it again. I formatted my memory card (which the wiki says, is completely safe), but now my 1.09 firmware still cannot change the ISO and shutter values.
8:13 when I drag the 3 magic lantern files into my Camera's directory (The SD card is inside the camera, I do not have a SD card reader) it gives me a "Cannot Copy" Error. What can I do?

Yesterday i got my Røde Videomic, i was so happy for have bought it, and i was like "i'm going pro today". But when I found out about the problem, I was very angry, because I didn't research on it, as I normally do... I was ready to throw the videomic out of my window, but then i found "Magic Lantern", on a random site about the 5D. I scroll down at the site and found out it was also available for the 550d. My eyes was filled with tears :'D! I'll never go back to the normal Firmware! NEVER!

@jonnycalvin Thanks! It's a Zoom H4n with a standard mic (not even sure of the brand) I am also in need of a mic upgrade. The Zoom H4n is great though!
@Dod3032 There are a few mics that are great quality. Look at the sure sm58 for interviewing sound and look at the MXL 990 Small Diaphragm Condenser mic for out side. These go for under dollars. Hope this will help you.
Question not too related to this...Magic Bullet Mojo is said to come with "presets" but I don't find any presets. I'm comfortable making looks based on my own adjustments, but it would be nice to have those alleged presets to work off of...any advice anyone?

@ClownzMask Well I myself am also a young film maker (15) and the truth is if something goes wrong in the process or you dont do something right, you can indeed completely destroy your camera, or "brick" the camera (meaning it would be useless). However, you go over the tutorial, understand what you'll be doing, triple check you have EVERYTHING you need, and take your time, you should be fine. I installed the firmware on my 550D without a hitch after I did everything I suggested.
I am a filmmaker and i will like to say to all watching. Luke Neumann has been very resourceful to all of us here. His video are very informative and educative. The man has a bright future and the future is here, please if you have the resources/money please help luke with all his endervors, He has been great with tutorials on YouTube. When I clicked the firmware on the and pressed okay (see 5:00) I got this error message:
C:/Windows\system32\xmllite.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support.

I need help. When extracting from the January 16th build, all i see is the autoexce build and magic lanter.fir. I don't see the magic.cfg. What am I doing wrong?
If I want to Format my card and keep the ML files can I just copy the ML files to my desktop then format the card then put the files from the desktop back onto the card ?

Dude, I think this made my camera not turn on. I removed the firmware files and stuff from my memory card and put it back into my camera. Now my camera LCD will not turn on the only thing that works now is the view finder. It will not take pictures or anything now. Great. 3 weeks old and already broken.
@93supra2jz Did you try taking out the battery and then putting it back in? The firmware sometimes freezes the camera and you have to reset it this way.
@Dod3032 Yes I have tried that. I took it took a local camera shop to see if they could help me but no luck. I have a 1 year warrenty on it so I will most likely send it back to Adorama to have them fix it. I'm currently redoing the memory card steps to try to get it to work again. Also, my camera does not connect to my computer so I think I am screwed. I'll let you know if I get it working.
@93supra2jz Oh my god I am the man. I got it to work. You should let people know that you cannot just delete the magic lantern files off your memory card as it will not let the camera turn on. I would recommend switching the firmware back to 1.0.9 BEFORE you delete those files off your memory card, so the camera can read the firmware.
@93supra2jz Also if they are having the same problem as I did, they need to reformat the memory card, then run through those memory card setup steps mentioned in the video, and they should be golden.
Is there any way at all to disable to Light Adjust when using the Video mode? There is nothing more annoying than this setting, which is ruining my shots.
Hi, i'm looking into installing the magic lantern for my 550D, I understand part of the program installs onto the sd card and some of it onto the camera itself which runs along side the canon sofware. My question is If I want to remove Magic lantern from both the sd card and the camera is this possible. I know if you put another sd card in it goes back to normal but what happens if I format my sd card and put it back in the camera, would that break my camera. Thanks for any help.
@shaunberry1982 No, it just won't run. If you want to go back to normal on your camera as well (shouldn't be able to tell the difference unless you have an SD card with ML files on it anyways...) you can always just update the firmware back to 1.0.9 from Canon.

@Dod3032 ok thanks alot, this is really cool, the audio meters are great but not so useful if you use an external device to record audio is what I found because then you just use the audio from that and it doesn't matter if the levels are bad. I use the Zoom H4n. so does ML cut off the onboard audio on record or just playback. also do you find the Zebras work good on this, they look a little kinda laggy but don't get me wrong it's way better than nothing.
Hey question i installed the ML and it keeps freezing and i having to take out battery, but ive just seen there new updates from Alex on the last link you put in the description, which im sure will help sort these problems. But when downloading the file from alex the ML files are diffrent names to the ML you showed in your tutorial i dont know which to replace and which ones from alex updates, to put in ..... shall i just delete the files then replace with new ML how do i replace?
Hey Luke, I already installed the magic lantern firmware. But ive seen some youtube users that have a extra tab "expo" in their magic lantern firmware. Where they can set extra iso, shutters, ... settings. Do you know how or where to unlock this?
@amcorockx You need to download the latest build of Magic Lantern and replace the 3 Magic Lantern files on your memory card with the new 3 that you download.
You can find the lastest build in the very bottom link in this videos description.
@Dod3032 Hey Luke dont know if u have an answer but I figure I'd ask...I followed your tutorial and everything works fine for what the firmware is but In the D-Bug section what is CMOS-TEMP? Mine is at 154...I know people are saying dont screw with the D-Bug settings but I installed it at 4AM in the morning and dont know if i had accidentally bumped it up..I know on your CMOS-TEMP it says 141 and believe it or not other peoples vary too,so yeah if you can shed some light on this it be cool.

Something interesting is happening to me. I can install and use the firmware but as soon as i turn off the camera and turn it back on i cant use it, i need to reinstall it for every time i turn on the camera. Am i missing something big here?
@BryanMumble Good at least im not the only one. What kind of memory card are you using? also my new Shotgun mic is almost useless when i plug it in. Its battery powered and i have changed the setting to use both internal and external. I even tried setting the internal mic to 0Db. Any suggestions?

@lykhoi96 This was one of my worries. However, its quite unluckily to completely break the camera, theres been thousands of downloads, and only one report of a bricked camera. I installed it yesterday, and I'm not completely sure how it works, but the 1.0.9 firmware still seems to be installed - if you boot your camera without the memory card in, it just defaults to that firmware.

I love this firmware, but unfortunately it's really buggy right now.
Rack focus stopped working after a while and the display at times is messed up.
Waiting for a more stable builds in the future. It'll certainly be worth the wait.

I can't get the cropmarks to work. I've copied them to the root of the card, but I only get two exclamation marks (!).
I don't have fully manual control of the ISO as well.
Have I forgotten to do something in the installation process?

When I clicked the firmware on the and pressed okay (see 5:00) I got this error message:
C:/Windows\system32\xmllite.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support.

I need help. When extracting from the January 16th build, all i see is the autoexce build and magic lanter.fir. I don't see the magic.cfg. What am I doing wrong?

@Lyricalmovement2010 Try downloading an earlier build, and then just replacing the autoexec and .fir with the newest ones.

If I want to Format my card and keep the ML files can I just copy the ML files to my desktop then format the card then put the files from the desktop back onto the card ?

Dude, I think this made my camera not turn on. I removed the firmware files and stuff from my memory card and put it back into my camera. Now my camera LCD will not turn on the only thing that works now is the view finder. It will not take pictures or anything now. Great. 3 weeks old and already broken.

@93supra2jz Did you try taking out the battery and then putting it back in? The firmware sometimes freezes the camera and you have to reset it this way.

@Dod3032 Yes I have tried that. I took it took a local camera shop to see if they could help me but no luck. I have a 1 year warrenty on it so I will most likely send it back to Adorama to have them fix it. I'm currently redoing the memory card steps to try to get it to work again. Also, my camera does not connect to my computer so I think I am screwed. I'll let you know if I get it working.

@93supra2jz Oh my god I am the man. I got it to work. You should let people know that you cannot just delete the magic lantern files off your memory card as it will not let the camera turn on. I would recommend switching the firmware back to 1.0.9 BEFORE you delete those files off your memory card, so the camera can read the firmware.

@93supra2jz Also if they are having the same problem as I did, they need to reformat the memory card, then run through those memory card setup steps mentioned in the video, and they should be golden.

@93supra2jz I had the same problem, simply make the card boot-able following the instructions on the install page. It's an easy fix.

Is there any way at all to disable to Light Adjust when using the Video mode? There is nothing more annoying than this setting, which is ruining my shots.

Hi, i'm looking into installing the magic lantern for my 550D, I understand part of the program installs onto the sd card and some of it onto the camera itself which runs along side the canon sofware. My question is If I want to remove Magic lantern from both the sd card and the camera is this possible. I know if you put another sd card in it goes back to normal but what happens if I format my sd card and put it back in the camera, would that break my camera. Thanks for any help.

@shaunberry1982 No, it just won't run. If you want to go back to normal on your camera as well (shouldn't be able to tell the difference unless you have an SD card with ML files on it anyways...) you can always just update the firmware back to 1.0.9 from Canon.

@Dod3032 ok thanks alot, this is really cool, the audio meters are great but not so useful if you use an external device to record audio is what I found because then you just use the audio from that and it doesn't matter if the levels are bad. I use the Zoom H4n. so does ML cut off the onboard audio on record or just playback. also do you find the Zebras work good on this, they look a little kinda laggy but don't get me wrong it's way better than nothing.

Hey question i installed the ML and it keeps freezing and i having to take out battery, but ive just seen there new updates from Alex on the last link you put in the description, which im sure will help sort these problems. But when downloading the file from alex the ML files are diffrent names to the ML you showed in your tutorial i dont know which to replace and which ones from alex updates, to put in ..... shall i just delete the files then replace with new ML how do i replace?

Hey Luke, I already installed the magic lantern firmware. But ive seen some youtube users that have a extra tab "expo" in their magic lantern firmware. Where they can set extra iso, shutters, ... settings. Do you know how or where to unlock this?

@amcorockx You need to download the latest build of Magic Lantern and replace the 3 Magic Lantern files on your memory card with the new 3 that you download.
You can find the lastest build in the very bottom link in this videos description.

@Dod3032 Hey Luke dont know if u have an answer but I figure I'd ask...I followed your tutorial and everything works fine for what the firmware is but In the D-Bug section what is CMOS-TEMP? Mine is at 154...I know people are saying dont screw with the D-Bug settings but I installed it at 4AM in the morning and dont know if i had accidentally bumped it up..I know on your CMOS-TEMP it says 141 and believe it or not other peoples vary too,so yeah if you can shed some light on this it be cool.

Hi! I really need to ask a question, its bothering me, I have a rode shotgun mic, but I'm thinking if I should change my filmware to magic lantern, becoz, I am not sure if changing it to magic lantern will voild my canon warrenty if anything that is covered in warrenty has happened and when I send to them for repairs, will they reject it becoz of modified filmware? Thanks!

Something interesting is happening to me. I can install and use the firmware but as soon as i turn off the camera and turn it back on i cant use it, i need to reinstall it for every time i turn on the camera. Am i missing something big here?

@BryanMumble Good at least im not the only one. What kind of memory card are you using? also my new Shotgun mic is almost useless when i plug it in. Its battery powered and i have changed the setting to use both internal and external. I even tried setting the internal mic to 0Db. Any suggestions?

@lykhoi96 This was one of my worries. However, its quite unluckily to completely break the camera, theres been thousands of downloads, and only one report of a bricked camera. I installed it yesterday, and I'm not completely sure how it works, but the 1.0.9 firmware still seems to be installed - if you boot your camera without the memory card in, it just defaults to that firmware.
