  • Evolution?

  • People are totally misunderstanding this video. That squirrel is actually guarding the carcass for food. Squirrels eat meat at times. I have seen them eat road kill myself. There is a video here on youtube with a squirrel killing a snake to eat it.

  • @lawnmower5454 I never knew squirrels where scavenging cannibals . My impression of squirrels has just gone right out the window!

  • 0:12 COME AT ME BRO!

  • he's like "back off bitch i still gotta bury him!"

  • Amazing Poor guy

  • Anyone else notice that crows walk like fucking idiots?

  • Cannibalism is natural and quite disturbing trait that still exist especially in animals.

  • @IWillFreakUrMind I agree. Also, the squirrel is flapping his tail and lying on the body. These are signs of defensive behavior in squirrels used to claim food and prevent enemies from coming close. The tail action is a scent market usually states this is my food stay away. As for the lying it shows ownership like how a dog protects his food.

  • @MAKEUPyourmindXO Look carefully at the clip you notice the squirrel taking a quick nibble.

  • @IWillFreakUrMind That may be true, and I'm sure when it comes down it, the squirrel just wants to eat it. I guess I'm just trying to see the good side of it.

  • @subarusumeragikun Yes I am. Its just plain old reality that the world is eat or be eaten kind of place. The behavior described is very hard to imagine in undomesticated animals.

  • zhis could be the ending of a disney animation movie :(

  • maybe he wanted it for himself

  • @ 0:32 FUS RO DAH!

  • Lik this if you cry everytim

  • So Sad :(

  • Now listen here, we can talk this over...

  • THIS IS SPARTA

  • Beautiful!!!

  • heartbreaking ;-(

  • @961Kitty Nuts are considered meat because of their high protein content.

  • The squirrel was protecting the body of a dead squirrel

  • Then a RAVEN comes and swoops the squirrel up

  • lol that squirl was like

    "Fuck outa here Nigga"

  • A Squirrel IS VEGETARIANNNN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Squirrel protects dead friend, ... lol. Thats not what I saw in the video besides I have seen real squirrels attacking and killing snakes, also I have seen a disturbing video of a farm in Australia infested with farm mice and there were so many that they were dying all over their mice family members... and you know what happened to the dead rodents? Their family found the bodies and began the canibalization process. Many animals do it from bears, praying mantis, chimps, spiders, snakes, and more.

  • @IWillFreakUrMind You must be great at parties.

  • work that tail

  • Stop hippie trolling. The squirrel wants to eat the roadkill. Humans are the most loyal animals because we're the smartest. And no dolphins aren't smarter.

  • Just because we're the smartest doesn't automatically mean we're the most loyal.

  • @DoctaSmoove Humans are the worse loyal animals on this planete

  • Defending dead friends body? No. Defending his next meal.

  • PATRAT'S DONT MESS AROUND

  • haha the dquirral wants to eat it

  • I saw a fox bury its young before... sad but true...

  • prayed

  • /watch?v=9HXuCdeBxqc

  • trust me...the squirrel could give a crap about his alleged (friend). Squirrels will eat meat when given the chance. He just diddn't want the crows to steal his warm meat snack.

  • I believe this shows how loyal animals really are - humans should take notes.

  • @MAKEUPyourmindXO Hey man, I'm a human and I fight crows all the damn time. Those crows know not to mess with human corpses when I'm around.

  • @MAKEUPyourmindXO in prison races stick together. blacks vs whites ect

  • @MAKEUPyourmindXO *Squirrel starts eating other squirrel*

  • @MAKEUPyourmindXO

We should kill our friends so that we can eat?

  • @DarkMarc9001 Nope, but nice try. More like learn how to be loyal and giving - not dishonest, hurtful and selfish.

  • @MAKEUPyourmindXO

Yeah...I was making a joke on what this video really meant, based on other comments.

  • @MAKEUPyourmindXO

This reminds of that part in family guy where death is having a date with a cute pet shop owner. She glorifies animals to the point that there is really no logic behind it anymore and then death decides to touch her and calls for the bill.

Sure all mammals have some form of empathy and yes they can bond. But humans spend entire day coming toghether to mourn a death and then try to cope with that loss for months, whereas this rodent will already eaten the body.

  • @MAKEUPyourmindXO What do you mean? Humans don't let their dead be eaten by crows either :p

  • @MAKEUPyourmindXO too true :)

  • @MAKEUPyourmindXO Like humans don't show loyalty every day. *rolls eyes*

  • @MAKEUPyourmindXO The squirrel was just protecting the corpse to eat it

  • the movings with the tales are against snakes.. but against crows ? o_o

  • Take a close look - the live one is a male, the other is probably a female in heat. Broad must have got hit before satisfying her man.(HE-HE-HA-HA)

  • gosh, how sad....and surprising!

  • Aww. :C What a hero. I loved the part where he sprawled across his friend to protect him. What clever little animals. (What they need to work on is to not run in the middle of the road, though. :/)

  • @SwirledtehSwirl so true

  • The whole time I can't help but think: "squirrels are so cute even when they're angry!" haha

  • @jamesdodd64 Lol, thanks for the laugh. :-)

  • Amazing? If he was wearing a hat like Raiden in mortal kombat and killed 1 or 2 crows with it then that would be amazing! This video title should read "mildly amusing video of a squirrel eating his dead sister being watched by hungry crows". Another very average YouTube moment that I hoped would be amazing.

  • Well that squirrel has nuts

  • You can tell that it's fearless...look at his massive squirrel cojones

  • 1:02 squirrel in stealth mode

  • sooooo cool

  • More proof that animals think and feel. Think about that next time you're having a burger, chicken nuggets, or sliced turkey. Juuust sayin'.

  • @PlanitReality Bullshit... And btw whats wrong with you? Even Animals Kill each other and Eat them self... Or do u hate Lyons ? Just cause they eat your lil Dream Bamby ?

  • @altermann555 Leave Lyon out of this!

  • @ReallySeriouslyAgain eh... no?!

  • @altermann555 Goodness, defensive much? What exactly is bull? The part about animals thinking and feeling? This video shows a squirrel defending its dead. That requires some level of emotion; that can only be partially instinctual. And what does what I said have to do with animals killing each other? (BTW, they do so b/c most can't get to the market.) And why don't you know how to spell "lions"? And what's a "dream bamby"? Hard to argue with someone who can't read or write.

  • @PlanitReality Emotion? No. The squirrel is defending the carcass because it wants to feed on it. Squirrels are caniballistic. The crows are trying to steal it's food.

The title of this video is wrong.

  • @Shadowblood66 Intriguing. It's a definite possibility; it doesn't look like the case here. Nevertheless, I stand by my statement. I watched (from the window of a bus stuck in traffic) a pigeon of all things, pull another dead pigeon away from the middle of the road, and then just sit by it. It was clearly some kind of mourning thing it was doing. Instinctual? I dunno, I've seen plenty of pigeons ignore dead pigeons, so why did THIS one matter?

  • @PlanitReality You are right, some animals do recognise their dead. But that wasn't the case in this video.

Elephants and chimps are known to grief. I've seen a video of a mother chimp with a dead baby which she carried with her for a week, unwilling to accept it's death.

But in this video, the squirrel just wanted to eat the corpse, squirrels are known to do this. (Sometimes they even attack and eat other squirrels)

  • @Shadowblood66 just fucking story

  • @Shadowblood66 Dammit thanks for ruining the video D;

  • @loopofpoop ignorance is bliss ;)

  • @Shadowblood66

You dont give mamals enough credit though. Those forms of empathy you name already show up in rats. Elephants and chimps are capable of much more. I suggest reading something made by Frans de Waal and such would change anyones perception on animal behavior. It's start to get creepy you realise that only difference between you and a monkey is advanced speech and that a feature we could have gotten from eating fungus from cow dung.

  • @Shadowblood66 hmm.. i doubt this was the case, because instead of trying to eat bits of the corpse while scaring the crows, he just lays to rest next to it for a while :<

  • @mikelsvftw Squirrels do not value other squirrels as much. They do not grief, or know death. They ARE social, but don't see eachother as "friends".

It has nothing to do with intelligence, but with their social structure.
