U do not need to tuck the knee to the chest - why? The ball should be controlled by the hands, it's drive and speed should be absorbed with the hands and arms and the ball comes to the chest and upper abdomen. If you keep up enough muscle tension, it won't hurt... So the knee needs not to protect the chest..
And for saving the ball after controlling it, we can use a cover: The upwards kicking leg comes over the covered ball and the head will be taken behind the arms
@SteffenReichel cod4lord is right if the ball comes in the air and a player is comeing agins you knee in the chest. where i now it from is that i have tryd to not have the knee in the chest and a bad incury
@hihaaf3 Sorry, we have a tutorial about low balls and not ball in the air.
And even in the Air you won't pull the knee for protection. Look on my VfB Stuttgart Goalkeeping videos: Those keepers even do not tuck the knee up to the chest... and they play highst german soccer league, and Jens Lehmann, former ManU keeper even did not...

he needs to tuck his knee in his chest so if it hits his chest it will not hurt. as he is doing right now he kicks his leg up leaving his body open.

@hihaaf3 This is a dive technique, why talking about high balls?
This is like talking about singing, because someone tell how to play trumpet...
SteffenReichel 1 year ago
@SteffenReichel Tucking your knee on high dives actually enables a higher jump.
AndyMunozSLC 1 year ago
@AndyMunozSLC Again, this is for diving... Why talking about anything for high balls?
SteffenReichel 1 year ago
@SteffenReichel So you're saying you've never dived for a high ball? I don't know what kind of soccer you're playing...
AndyMunozSLC 1 year ago
@AndyMunozSLC This I would call a leap save, not a dive save. Maybe this is misunderstanding, but my term is: Dive = low balls
leap = high balls
cross catch = high balls
cross punch = high balls
So I have two dives: Sideways and frontal... but there is no leap, no jump

@TheMrHarryShow
In gameplay yes, in training, no, why?
He likes the Jabulani, so we used it... and two years, he has to play with size five....
