So this character is basicly 2 characters in 1? Or is the side guy a "summon" of some sort?

I would think of it more as 2 chars in one. The doll has her own life bar ( the green bar) under Carl's life bar. It drains as it is used or if it is hit. The doll's life bar also recharges when it is not in use. If the doll's bar runs out it is unable to move for a period of time while it refills it's life to full.

Once a command is input, the doll usually has a lot of super armor, however if Carl is hit, forced to block or is knocked down during the move, usually the doll stops.

Well that is actually quite interesting. In GGXX Eddie had this little summon thing but this is actually quite different. It reminds me kind of like Ice Climbers in Smash in terms of unique gameplay.

Are there any more kinda specific characters in this game with those "special" traits?

Everyone in Blaz is pretty unique in terms of their traits.

Well it is a game from the guys who made Guilty Gear :P. But the Carl thing is like prety unique when you look at other fighting games. Like there are the fast/weak chars and the slow/strong chars types and such. Are those type of chars also unique when compared to other fighters?

The most unique other cast members that come to mind are Arakune, Tager and Rachel.

This game is called BlazBlue CalamityTrigger. Created by Arc Gaming same guys that did the Guilty Gear games. Dio lives in Japan and these matches were on the arcade console. It is also available on the Xbox360 and the PS3. I can only play on PS3 I'm no good with the other 2 consoles.

A week or so ago the second installment of this game BlazBlue Continuum Shift was released for the arcades in Japan.
