All these open labs devices still have one flaw IMO. The built in screen. Why not build it so it can rotate out of the main case and be more useable in a seated position. Using an external monitor just seems so tired... Good machine, thats the only issue I have iwth it.

I think it's amazing how Open Labs has taken simple effects that you can do with a DJ mixer, CD player and a computer and put a 3k plus price tag on it. I've been doing this same stuff for years at less cost! I'm not saying that they don't have the bomb product, but what I am saying is that what they are doing, Teddy and Morris, is nothin new and it can be done at a cheeper price. However, if you have the money, buy it! There is nothing like the convenience of havin it all in one 40 pound box!

Mimik does not chop samples. You can use any of your favorite windows compatible software to chop with.

yeah, I dont like how it doesnt have the firebox, and i dont like how it doesnt have the "dj" controls though. and I'm totally unimpressed with the sounds. theres only like 34 gb of stuff on there. thats ridiculous, I paid $7000 for it and it has a bunch of VSTs that are FREE. like delay lama, etc. so lame. my pc with fruity loops has WAY more stuff on it. and I never paid for any of those vsts. I'm still trying to figure out reaper. but theres a learning curve on any peice of gear.

You can use any Windows based sampling software in the NeKo. FL Studio samples and that's my primary software. I also have Sample Tank 2. But there are many to choose from. Just use the one you like the best.

Also, the Open Labs new DBeat machine is great for deejays. You should go check that out at their site.

Yes it does. The QWERTY it comes with is very small so I don't use it. I use my Dell QWERTY keyboard instead.

damn when i saw you turn it on on the carpet and then it shut off i thought the same thing happened to him as did to me,,,, the day i got my timbo edition MIKO i did the same thing and turned it on on the carpet and frided out the power supply and couldn't figure out what the deal was for about 4 hours and then finally got it up and runnin.... thankfully you didn't have that problem

Im juggling between the oasys and this.  Does this have weighted keys? I know its only 61 keys but for 5000 dollars I think they could hook it up. Im still teetering on the Neko side more even if it doesnt because i need to clone my motif's, Fantom G and X6, MV-8800 and MPC..and my Triton. I know the oasys doesnt even have anything other then sound quality to offer. Plus I could get a oasys and clone it then sell it. lol

Hey BuzzhawgProductions,

The LX5 comes with a 61-key semi-weighted synth action keyboard (World class Fatar® Technology). Open Labs does not skimp when it comes to using the best quality parts. Keys feel great!

You won't need to clone your mpc. Just load the wavs into your NeKo and load them up into GURU or whatever software you want. That's what I did with my mpc.

Oasys is a nice synth for sure, but you get a whole lot more with an Open Labs system. Good luck!

I feel great. The EX5 is a fine machine. It is 2 grand cheaper, not 3. And if you look closely at the specs, hopefully you will understand why my LX5 costs more.

I hope they sell a lot of EX5's. They are great for someone who wants a NeKo but can't afford an LX5.
