people always talk about vertigo being hitchcock's best film, but, although i used to be a fan of that film, there are 2 elements missing from it in my opinion. firstly there is almost no humour in vertigo at all, usually a trait of a hitchcock film, and also, there's no real chemistry between novak and stewart, unlike grant and marie saint in north by northwest, which is far superior to vertigo on both those counts.
