That's a Pacu, not a piranha. A pacu is almost defenseless, a piranha has teeth that can cut through bone. They look alike (not by accident), but one eats seeds and nuts, the other can eat you.

If that were a piranha, you would haven't that "shark" there. It would have eaten it. That's what they do.

Pacus eat seeds, nuts, etc... Their mouths are developed for that, not for tearing chunks of flesh off of other creatures.

Red Piranhas are not that nasty though. But, if you get a Black/White Piranha, they are horrible. You won't have anything left within two days.

Even fish that are primarily herbivores are opportunistic predators. That being said, a Pacu is poorly equipped to eat other fish, a piranha is superbly equipped to - it's what they do for food. Pacus are primarily seed eaters, and they are equipped for that.

When all is said and done, the point is, that's not a piranha.

Those are not piranha.. they are Red Bellied Pacu...... Red Belly Pacu = Colossoma Brachypomum and the common Red Belly Piranha = Pygocentrus Nattereri. Look up what juvenile Red Belly Pacu and juvenile Red Belly Piranha look like and compare to the "piranha" in the first 3 seconds of this video.. there's no way that "shark" is eating a piranha.. comare the caudal fins of the fish being eating in comparison to that of a juvenile Red Belly..

I placed 3 ID sharks with them that take food well and it really helped. The paroons became a bit active since the ID's arrived. However they're still choosy. The only eat small sliced meat. I hope they'll eat the tilapia feeders now mixed with them soon.
