Amazing! I am still learning blender, and it would be nice to know how to set and make the controls. Can you guide me to some resources or information about this?
I'm sorry for this late answer, actually I did tryed to answer before, a few minutes after you posting your message but probably my firewall was letting me. Anyway, I remember saying that I cant remember what I've done here. I do think its important to go to wiki.blender and search for Snake Rig tutorial. The rest is just costume bones and your imagination! Rigging is a very demanding process! You really need to digg into it. I'm not rigging since the day I posted this video... :X
Another tip: Get "DVD training 3: Character Animation" from Blender eShop! Its very good, actually I knew a lot already but there's a couple of things I found really cool. Specially the way, the instructor organizes he's stuff! It really helps keep things organized, for animation :)
Like the idea of being able to pull joints off the spine, but can you move the hips and shoulders independently, and still have that stretchiness? Animators will like that I reckon
Hi, thanks for watching. I'm not into rigging for a year now, I'm working and at school at same time, so I'm going back to rigging as soon, as finishing school.
About your question. Yeah, you can do that, I mean, from what I can remember in that studies you can do it quite well.
I've tryed this techinique because, theres no IK Spline in Blender, theres other things but... you know. Came out with this :)

Just saying, I think the rig has too many hip controls. Overall, impressive
