I have been taking lessons for about 5 weeks. I have to say , you are great! I have learned so much from you. If I decide to quit my lessons, I am still gonna learn from you. Thank you . Keep posting. You not only play fabulous , you are a great teacher.......
I have watched many guitar lesson videos on Youtube and BY FAR yours are the best. Very informative, very easy to understand. My problem is how I hold my fretting hand. My technique is way off.
@BlackNOrange97 Thanks very much much. I hope to start being able to do a whole lot more on here soon. Keep at it and feel free to give me lots of feedback. \m/
@1984Melike I doubt your hands are smaller than mine. Be sure to check out my basic left hand technique videos. It sounds like it's the position and angles of your hand and not the length of your fingers that is causing problems. \m/
@faggio60 I have nothing against metronomes but the aren't the only time source. I always preferred practicing to cd's or a drummer or backing tracks etc..because those things are a whole lot less annoying than a click click click, and in the real world I prefer the foot tap as I think it's important to develop your own internal sense of rhythm. A philosophy shared by Al Di Meola btw. Metronomes are fine, I just don't use them. I have one that has collected dust for 20 years. lol \m/
hey man I really like your vids. you have alot of good stuff going here.
I really like your intro taping. you should totally do a vid on it. even if its short I would love to incorporate that into my playing style. Keep up the good work man I'll follow your vids from now on.
hey, sorry im bugging you so much.. but i have another question... when if do this going from high e to low E, the strokes are like... (down, up, down, up) i have found it easier for me to go to the lower string, with another upstroke instead of doing another (down, up, down, up).. so in this case it is like
High e (down, up, down, up)
B,G,D,A,E (up, down, up, down)
is this bad technique?? will it hurt me in the long run??? thanks again for your vids, they are soo helpful :)
@MetalHeadEmperor That's sort of a type of economy picking thing. Frank Gambale kind of stuff I believe. There isn't anything wrong with it, I just find It has an effect on the sound of things that I personally don't like for most things. But if it sounds good to you, go for it.\m/
A fan of Behemoth.. that's cool! Saw the Ezkaton Vinyl or something like that in an other video of yours. Would be cool if you'd upload lessons for some of their songs.. something like "Demigod" for beginners and "Transmigrating Beyond Realms Ov Amenti" for advanced online students. Bet most of us would love it!
@Soilwar Probably not vinyl. I do collect vinyl but for some strange reason I have no Behemoth on vinyl. I'm in the process actually of starting another channel that is going to deal exclusively with teaching songs & riffs. It will focus on Metal so I'm sure to teach lots of Behemoth. \m/ Once I get a few videos up I'll be sure to announce it to all my subscribers here.
i play the guitar for about a year now, but never learned the basics, now this is frustrating to me -_- wish i did this much much earlier, tho, this helps me enormously, i expect this to get my playing speed wich is currently lowlowlowlow up like a shitload, thank you man i really love your vids thanks for the friend invite!!
And yeah i have a problem too, my fingers keep getting out of the economic motion and more up off the board? whip em in place like slaves???
Very nice, I do something very similar when I warm up or teach people, except I start low and go high, but when I shift, I just move my fingers backwards, starting with the pinky. Basicly: 1-2-3-4, shift 5-4-3-2. (On all 6 strings of course) It helps to prevent your fingers from getting used to just one pattern.
Anyways, nice videos, looking forward to some advanced stuff.
i've been practicing a buncha different finger exercises - i try to keep my fingers as close to the fretboard as i possible can, but my friggin PINKY doesn't seem to agree with me on that -_- it keeps curling back :/
I got my electric guitar today and just attempted this.
My problem is that when i try to hit the lower E string, my wrist is proper bent upwards and it puts a bit strain on it. I think your fingers are quite a bit longer, so i always seem to be getting in the way of the higher strings when i do this.
@EazyDuz18 It's tough to say for sure as I can't see what you are doing. My hands are pretty small. First be sure to watch my videos on basic left hand technique. You definitely need to see that before attempting this. Let me know if that helps. Also, be sure to keep in mind it takes time to train the hands to do new things they aren't used to. Remember to be patient and keep at it. \m/
For example, if im attempting the G chord, i cant stop my hand from muting the first E string. The only way to stop it is to push my wrist even further under the neck forcing my hand away from the first E. This automatically tenses my bicep which gives me pain in that area and all down my arm and wrist.
@EazyDuz18 This dude teaches alot like I do so I'll offer my input. I am astutely aware that opinions are like...well, you know. Here's the thing. With proper technique, hand size doesn't matter so muc.h. I've taught kids with short stubby fingers as well as grown ups with long narrow fingers. The common key to sucess is getting your fingers in the correct positions with the proper technique. Then it doesn't matter.
you are AWESOME for putting these vids up on youtube, and not linking us to an external site, where we have to pay for more videos and that. ROCK ON \m/
@Niallphillips Thanks my friend. And I should be starting to upload more intermediate to advanced lesson soon. There are just certain basics I want to cover first so I don't get a million emails of questions that are answered in the basic videos. So be sure to subscribe and I'm sure I'll have something for you soon.
@ShredGuitarAcademy oh i'v been paying attention, I understand what your doing, you're much better off having a steady build up..I'v never had any kind of formal training, totally self taught, so I find interesting things in beginners lessons too sometimes so I don't mind... Yea, I subbed when I 1st saw your channel, I'm not great but I can recognize quality. how did you learn??
btw, your channel is looking good dude, you'll be a partner in no time, props...
Great video! You should also say that if people practice it, they will play like at
6:48 after an hour
7:16 after a week
7:24 after 3 months
7:28 after a year
7:30 after 2 years
7:34 after 5 years
7:37 after 10 years :-D

It really hard to do this exercise when you got small fingers.
What would be your advice for beginner players with small hands??
