the fawn was in no danger of drowning, he had a ledge to stand on ,and deer can swim for a long time,it was a good thing that the guys did but unless somehing like that is in imeadiate danger then leave it to the pros..
sometimes i wish we could talk to animals to tell them we mean no harm and at the same time animals will be told when there is harm with stupid people in the world.
Total props to these two, esp the one who had the initiative and disregard for group think to do that! Mohonk's grounds are terrific, but the facility is an overpriced dump trying to claim charm as an excuse for bad maintenance and service. No disrespect to banananessofdoom, who no doubt does things right and is as frustrated as customers. I understand the fawn was delicious.
I was amazed to know someone took the time to record and put it to music. I am the guy helping lift the fawn out of the water using my belt and bandana. I couldn't believe how many people were just standing there watch this innocent creature drown. I was happy to have helped it!!
Wow! That man can really swim! O.O Heh, the fawn's so cute when it cries and gets water in its mouth at 0:52-0:53. And what's with the dramatic music all of a sudden? Lol! The fawn sounds like Stan from Southpark! I've never seen fawn-fishing before. ^^
The guy who jumped in was pretty lucky, I know a guy who got hurt BAD by getting kicked a couple times by a deer (it'd been shot and he thought it was dead.) It's borderline retarded to try and wrestle most wild mammals, although I'm sure this dude was from the city so his best experience with deer was watching Bambi, or going to the zoo.
@coyo7e That's a great and accurate point. The swimmer was obviously very experienced but probably unknowingly ran the risk of a sharp hoof to the face or head.
i'm an employee at mohonk mountain house and i've gotta say, security was NOT happy that someone went in, haha. i think it was brave, even though the fawn ran away before being checked. i heard about it on the radio and laughed at first but after seeing this video i think it's definitely worth noting. good job ^_^ i'm glad you got this on tape.
As the person that took the video, I will add that had we waited for a ranger, the poor thing likely would have drowned. Where the video ends, I finally get to look the little guy over. We were able to pin him down and after a careful physical examination, we determined that he didn't need any immediate medical care. In that short amount of time, he managed to wrestle himself free, so we saw no need to harass him further. And I will say, he ran like the wind!! : )
deer: every time i go for a swim some guy has to come and tie me up with some belt and a bandanna and send me home!!!

That was so kind of him to jump in to save the fawn! That's a REAL man for ya!
We're up at Mohonk all the time...there is no way that fawn could have gotten out of there.

What an adventure! He sure sounds unhappy about being grabbed though. I didn't know they made those noises.
