I have sent my crashed drive to a couple of places in Thailand and India. Both reported they could not recover the data because of scratches. Is this true? How did the drive get scratched?
@aussiepicnic Yes it's true. When the hard drive crashes sometimes the read/write heads hit the platter surfaces of the drive and scrape the angstrom coating where the actual data is stored causing that data to be unrecoverable.
