This is not the Canadian national anthem. The CA anthem is "O Canada". The "Maple Leaf Forever" was sung in Canada before O Canada came about. I don't see any shame in adapting this song for the school's anthem since the school itself has acknowledged that the anthem is sung to the melody of The Maple Leaf Forever. Since there is acknowledgement, it is not plagiarism.
