Great tutorial. I have never seen how to make mineral mascara, and really intersting. Its a lot of process but similar to making lotions, except lots of wax is used. I have never used silicone oil before, and didnt know the power of quick drying, very interesting, thank you! I am curious how long does this last once you make it, opened or unopened? I may well purchase your mascara since its a lot of process...or for fun it may be intersting to make them with my friends for a craft party!

@MsElliew1 I would say unopened it should last about 3-6mons if you refridgerate it, it will keep longer. After opening I would say this should be used up between 1 - 2 mons, However I do believe that with any mascara they should be discarded after a month again if you refridgerate it will last much longer and will lessen the chance of bacterial growth. I only use natural preservatives as you can see which is another reason why i recommend refrigerating. thank you for watching :)

I've honestly never used any other oil for this other than the silicone oil because it offers so many benefits to the mascara. The silicone oil is waterproof, it drys quickly, it exhibits resistance to oxidation and it is non toxic and a non-irritant. You can always try it with the jojoba oil and see how it comes out. My biggest concern is that I'm not sure the mascara will dry as quickly and that it may be more runny. I would be very interested in hearing your outcome. Good luck & thank u!
