  • I dont think its vaterland..... This was taken around 1910's i guess, when her funnels were not yet painted black. and the spacing of the funnels is too small, the ship looks like its around 700 or 600 feet

  • No, That's Vaterland, Imperator's sister ship.

  • The 3 funnels in the far background at 1:24 look like they belong to the Imperator.

  • What is going to happen to that pier 54?

  • Actually, the germans only fired a torpedo to just scare the people but they really didn't intend to sink her.

  • Que Todas as almas das vítimas dessa catástrofe descansem em paz.

  • lusitania wasa littlebit better than maury........no offense. ishelooked soneat and clean

  • happy 96th birthday lusy

  • How many pepole die basters nazi....

  • This song works great with the RMS Lusitania! I love the song as well! :D

  • @captainofthetitanic but what if the funnels get stuck in you?

  • Thank you for posting this, so timely as the anniversary of this disaster once again approaches. What a senseless loss of so many lives...

  • Cunard only lost lives during the 2 World Wars. Lusitania was 1 of only 20 Liners to sink with a loss of life. Out of the 28 Cunard Liners lost during the 2 World Wars, 20 sank with light or heavy loss of life.

  • it wasnt mysterius at all just cold water got into the boilers and woila big boom, no ammunition or coal dust explosion.

  • how is it possible that the ship will sink in 18 minutes after the torpedo firing

  • @roope820 there was a mysterious explosion that tore open the starboard bow below the waterline, and it wasn't a torpedo..

  • u greeve over this??... HAHA i wipe my ass with lusitania

  • On her last voyage, the Lusitania wasn't heading for Queenstown, but for Liverpool!

  • I'd peer over the side of the railing at the bow, and look at the two tugs pushing Lucy to her starboard side in curiosity. Back then, bow thrusters didn't exist, so this was the alternative.

  • this is a great video

  • Oh! The graceful line of RMS LUSITANIA. God she's so pretty. why the Gremans did her in, I'll never know, but at least they actually save her from being scrapped.

  • @SuperTitanicfreak because the germans assumed that she was carrying contraband munition what would have made her a legal target.

  • God rest Lusitania, for she went down 95 years to this day.

  • I love Lusitania. I wish I could sail on her, during her glory days. To walk on the promenade decks, reading in the library, tea in verandah cafe, eating in 1st class dining room. OH! Lusitania.

  • Seeing Cunard's old pier 54 where Lusitania dock as it look today is eerie

  • thanks for uploading this vid. its awesome how you put the real footage from the Lusitania.

  • The biggest mistake I seen while watching 18 minutes of Terror, was that while Lusitania was sinking, passengers were cramming into the brand new electric lifts and as the power faded they were trapped between decks and drowned in the lift unable to get the gates opened. Safest bet would have been to go use the stairs like others did.

  • Bastard U-boats...

Lusitania,Carpathia and many other great ships were sank by the machines from that one country...=_=

  • I got to go to New York City in May this year and happend to while in the couch bus to pass by the remainds of Pier 54. What's even more sad is that it was May 7, 2009, the day Lusitania was torpedoed and sunk off the Coast of Irleand.

  • On that ship whas ammunation the germans in u boat are confused vhy is she sinking to fast with only one torpedo the ansver is that torpedo whas hit the room with ammunation the4 captain of lusitania whasn´t now for ammunation he nows when they begining with ride and lusitania whas sink in only 18 min.

  • did u shoot the 1st part of this footage?

  • That about the second explosion survivors talking about ?

The sinking of the ship was planned by the british government to pull the USA into the war.

  • Sorry guys, at the 17. september 1914 the ship was registed in the english shipregister as an armed merchant cruiser. So it was official a warship. It was prepared to take 12 *15cm guns, ammunition magazin were built, rooms for the gunners.

It was hit by only one torpedo because the german submarine had only one left.. Somebody really sink that a large ship like the Lusitania it was, can sink in only 18 minutes.

  • Sorry but you have seemed to overlook some facts, although i do agree it was registered as a warship it was not armed.

But according to rules of engagement the U Boat was supposed to issue a warning before firing which it didnt, the reason suspected for sinking so fast was they were unable to shut off the engines and was still travelling at speed nearing its limit enabling more water to enter the ship.

  • Comment removed

  • The Lusitania was armed with 8 * 15,2cm guns had 320 soldiers to armed this guns on board and more than 10tons an ammunition for the british army. It wars a warship and the german u-boat captain has the right to sunk it. The question is why the british used woman and children to protected their warshios ?

  • it was no war ship do ur re search

  • @shaun1912 The research is absolutely complete, right down to having the secret manifest, and physical evidence. She was loaded with arms. Mr. Churchill may be a hero to some, but the man clearly deliberately sacrificed these civilians hoping to draw the US into the war. His subsequent brilliance cost the British their empire, which vanished with nary a bubble not long after WW II.

  • @historatia wrong war.

  • @NorthernKaled I retract that statement.

  • @historatia: of course research is still incomplete. government papers about the lusitania case are still secret, so nobody knows the truth. she carried no guns, but might have carried contraband munition. but you can't say wether or not.

  • If I'm not mistaken, I think the Lusitania was a hospital ship. That's what made it even sadder about the accident. It's ironic that a hospital ship meant to help people ends up doing just the opposite. A shame.

  • the song is sleeping sun nicht wish

  • wow really poor lusitania and really great videos that you are posting

  • If we can't fly airplanes in the future, hope we can start going by boat again... That would be awesome :)

  • who sings this ?

  • amazing footage, what are they on 3:33 and at near the end?

  • i love titanic britanic and lusitania if i found the people who bomb britanic and lusitania i will kill them......................................

  • @Mehbender Song, Awesome*

  • lol i agree

  • doesn't need the soundtrack

  • Amazing video thanks!

  • cool.

  • totally

  • this is an amazing vid and an unbelievable tribute to the liner and those who went down with her. R.I.P RMS LUSITANIA

  • Titanic, Empress of Irland, Lusitania, Britannic. Ships of the gilded age.

  • I Just got a Shocking News ,I Heard Lusitania Was used for target practice when she had sunk in world war 1 or 2(i forget)Thats why the wreck is in such a bad state

  • Yeah, she was. Disgusting really, using such a historic ship but that's just my opinion.

  • It wasn't just the depth charges and hedgehog mortars that the Irish navy dropped on her post war, storms and the ship's position on the bottom have also contributed to the destruction.

  • This video is excellent! How much deep is the Lusitania?

  • how sad 3 beautiful ships sink!! lusitania, britannic, Titanic!! :(

  • This ship was an Armed Merchant Cruiser part paid for by the Britsh Government for use in the event of war. She was put in harms way deliberately and unfortunately paid the ultimate price. Very sad but not untypical of the so-called superpowers to do this type of thing.

  • My Grandfather was only 7 years old and survived that day, his mother did not she was also with child. I remember some of the story he told me.

Very sad day in history and also in my family

  • This video is great. The Lusitania was nothing but murder. My granny her two brothers and her parents Lusitania sailed on the Lusitania's last voyage, first class all were lost but my granny. Only a german would kill that many poeple and be happy about it. Till she died the word Lusitania frightend her. But great video

  • The Lusitania was such a beautiful ocean liner. My Nana's aunt Blanche sailed on her second voyage. Not the fetal one.

  • The Lusitania seems like shes so much longer than Titanic with that large seperated aft end

  • Wait was that the real pier 54 before it got demolished? thats amazing!

  • The colour paintings are by the noted Titanic artist Ken Marschall. Here in the UK earlier this year saw a 2 docu-drama about the last voyage of the 'Lusitania'. Well worth looking out for.

  • the lusitania looks awkward o_o

    its so tall

why are the funnels placed nearer to the bow than the stern it makes it look lopsided o_o

  • @slushies123 It's a Cunard Liner.

  • the song sucks but the video rocks

  • 2:03, was that a color painting or a live-action screenshot, If that's live, then I didn't hear shit about a Lusitania film.

  • Who wants to embed your video anyway.I don't even want anyways it suxs.

  • i can't stop watching this video too...! i love ships, and i think, you are done very great job!!

  • "I am reluctantly driven to the conclusion that there was a conspiracy deliberately to put the Lusitania at risk in the hope that even an abortive attack on her would bring the United States into the war. Such a conspiracy could not have been put into effect without Winston Churchill's express permission and approval." -- British naval historian Patrick Beesly in his book 'Room 40'

  • Very beautifully done. The best way to explain the Lusitania so young people can understand is that it was the 9/11 of it day. It got the world started into the First World War in a way I hope 9/11 may be leading to a third. She was a gorgeous ship and I'm proud to have two lithographs signed by Avis Dolphin and Alice Drury Lines.

  • Excuse me, I meant to say the Lusitania got the US started into the First World War in a way that I hope 9/11 is NOT possibly leading into a third. Big clarification!

  • We can hope that a Third World War is not around the corner, as you have said. Thanks for your comment.

  • Beautiful video and the song fits very well in my opinion.

Lusitania is such a tragic story. Too bad she had to go down the way she did.

  • Thank you. And I agree, it is a tragic tale.

  • brilliant wot an ace video! wot a lovely ship 2- such a tragedy

  • Thank you again.

  • i cant stop watching this videos its great ow question the cunard docks are still standing were are they i think the song fits this ships personality but what i think is the biggest mystery byfair is the lusitania love it

  • I'm glad you enjoyed it. I tried to go for a 'time-travel' idea, but I don't think it entirely worked.

  • hmm the rms white star line rms olyimpics in the background great video

  • Thank you.
