  • My absolutely favorite all time movie period!

  • This was one of my favorite movies, and all the exciting scenes. Did they do their own stunts!!

  • This was one of my favorite movies. Did they do there own stunts. How did they film the river scenes? I was 7 years old or almost that age!

  • I wish someone would post the whole movie to youtube...

  • matrix is better than this LOL

  • i like glamor with couples like Rogers and Astaire; and I like adventure with guys like Errol Flynn. I like spectacle with flicks like Gone With The Wind. But there's something about this love story about with a grubby drifter and a spinster. It rules

  • Great movie, Great inspiration for underdogs

  • This film was made the year I was born, in the place I grew up! Original footage in my video under 'Speak Swahili, Dammit!;

  • Bogie seriously reminds me of someone from another movie or a cartoon in the tea scene at the start of the film where his stomachs growling - the way he looks so awkward at the table. Anybody have any ideas?

  • This reminds me always of my home in the bush of Tanganyika, where I grew up. Original footage on my video, on my youtube site.

  • Thanks from another appreciator of this film !

  • @kateclay100 The boat you ``genius``.

  • @kateclay100 : )

  • @kateclay100 It's the boat.: )

  • Toooorppppppeedooos??

  • To everyone with the comments on the name of the movie, 'The African Queen' is the name of the steam-boat that the characters ride on for most of the movie. It doesn't refer to any person in the movie. So if we could all leave our hyper-sensitive comments to ourselves, or at least read the trailer description and not jump to conclusions first, that would be nice. Kaythanksbye.

  • The three greatest male film actors in my opinion are Humphrey bogart, Marlon Brando, and James dean.

  • There's a short video of the "Modern Africa Queen" :-) on my video-site on youtube, under Speak Swahili, Dammit! This old boat has seats salvaged from a Boeing 707 which crashed into Lake Victoria. It's a venerable vessel, moored at Wag Hill near Mwaza. It reminds me so much of the old Queen!

  • My friend Bill Geach's boat at Mwanza reminds me of the African Queen! This iconic movie really inspired us as children growing up near Lake Victoria in Tanzania! Pleas take a look at my video on my youtube site.

  • To those criticizing Bogart here, the American Film Institute ranked Bogart as the greatest male star in the history of American cinema so who really cares what you think.

  • An all time great Classic movie. SO good!

  • I heard of this movie, and I thought it had an African Queen in it. There's only white people in this movie.... Dumb ass title..

  • @MIZZJAD3Y His boat is called the African Queen.

  • bogart was great.

  • This is just like disney, racist as hell lol.

  • looks interesting. Would love to watch it

  • Disneyland, that shoulda been! >:o)

  • Disneylad Trivia: This film was the Inspiration for the ride Jungle Cruise.

    >:o)

  • After reading this book I was about to watch this movie... but this looks pretty bad. Alnutt is SUPPOSED to be a cockney. Why do movies always ruin everything??

  • @atruenut Originally, in the movie, Alnutt did have a cockney accent. But Bogart couldn't do one, so they changed the script.

  • @atruenut because Bogart couldn't do a cockney accent, and we wouldn't want another Mary Poppins type moment ala Dick van Dyke, they made his character Canadian instead. He still sound like a New Yorker to me, but the movie still works in spite of the geographic character shift. You should give it a chance!

  • Now to be released via DVD, fully restored March 23!

  • I liked this movie a lot. Great mix of plot, action, and romance.

  • One of the top ten greatest films, ever. I DO hope they can clean up some of the effects when they put it on DVD.

  • Great movie - great actors and huston made it. A must see for future generations...

  • I love this movie. :)

  • It never gets old!

  • After 58 years am I the only person to spot this blooper? The torpedoes are painted red. They were meant to be made from oxygen cylinders which are painted black according to Charlie in the dialog. Red cylinders contain hydrogen. Both types of gas cylinders were on board the Queen

BTW: Neither Rosie nor Charlie eat anything during their trip down the river. But they drink plenty of cups of tea!

  • Ranked 17 in the AFI's top 100 best movies of all time, this movie is noted for the emblematic scene of Bogart towing the boat through the swamp........one of the first colour classics too.

  • My one concession to Katharine Hepburn. Great movie.

  • motherfucka

  • LOL what was she swatting at?

  • she was swatting at a swarm of flies - this video does not

show them very well. Too bad that this film is only available

as a Chinese import. It needs to be re-mastered and re-issued so a new generation can enjoy it.

  • It's worth noting, in the current context, that the African Queen was the name of Bogart's boat in the movie. It wasn't Kate's nickname. But hey, what the hell, she can be my Queen.

  • Shit Brando was good but he could never be as tough as Bogart.

  • @CaponeKing Ever seen One Eyed Jacks? Rio in that movie could kick the shit outta Bogart. John Wayne would kick the shit outta both of em' though. He's a real mean motor scooter.

  • @McNugget06

oh please. Bograt can do a Mexican and Shakepean.

  • @Dramactica Not acting talent but on screen power, nothing beats somebody like John Wayne or Charles Bronson.

  • @McNugget06

Oh please. John Wayne? He has limited acting. He is culture icon than an actor. Bograt have talent. :P

  • @Dramactica That was my point. He has a more powerful persona than Bogart. I love em' both though. I'm just saying Wayne is a stronger presence on screen. Nothing to do with acting talent.

  • Hepburn's line "You Liar" in the trailer is different to the movie - obviously a different take (common that trailers use alternate takes or even material that never appeared in the movie - as trailers are usually prepared in advance of the film's completion)

  • I just can't take Katherine Hepburn ordinarily, but in this she is very good. Great movie. Thanks for post.

  • Wonderful movie and great Video!

  • Excellent movie!

  • I don't see an African Queen?

  • It's the name of their boat.

  • BigBossRell123

LOL you are behind the 8 ball. The African Queen is the name of the boat. I bet you are a hilarious in person.

  • this is the best movie ever...it has drama, suspense, romance, comedy, great acting, the whole package. I first saw it when I was a very little girl with my parents at the drive-in, and loved every minute of it. I've watched it as many times as possible since, and can't wait to see it again.

  • Corny trailer GREAT movie.

  • love this movie

  • i love this movie..me & my aunt & grand,ma would watch this!!! Never let the old one die! People, pls don't let your heritage die, it's all we have at the end of the day

  • altough the name of the movie is african ... most of it was filmed in turkey :) and there is no crocodile and elephants in turrkey :)))

  • one of Dad's favourite movies.....it's about westerners trying to cope in a different environment - it has a light side to it - I don't think it's meant to be a "serious" film.

  • This is the awesomest Katharine Hepburn movie ever!!!! May Katharine Hepburn rest in peace.

  • It's a MOVIE. Made by Westerners. If you're Asian or From Africa... Make you're own movie.

  • by the way, we have a huge popular song called african queen.

  • Is it about a boat?

  • it's about a boat...

  • haha thats funny...:)

  • African Queen is the name of the boat!

  • You see the title an you think its some real African goddess, then you find out its about some westerner.

  • What are you? Some kind of a nut? This is a great film you nincompoop!!

  • i don't care about the movie, i just don't like the misleading title.

  • I agree with davibukun. I thought it was about some Amazon super-woman but all i got was this skinny little white woman who can't quite speak proper...

  • Yeah, we want MORE films about hot women, not some crummy boat, illiitteerate english wuman, and a crappy old acter like durk bogard.

  • Yeah your right, theirs nothing I hate more than illiitteerate peeple.

PS - The Amazon is in Africa isn't it???

  • No, That's awell none online buckshp. This is the nyle I think.

  • Oh yeah, that's were they get the nylon from innit?

  • Yes, i Think. Its the first sensibl thing you've said. Mind you, that Aubrey hepburn is a looker, isnt she?

  • She's a looker lika what?

  • Sorry, i ment hooker.

  • Katharine Hepburn could read. I think you need to learn how to spell.

  • Emilymusicfan....I think I can speak for both Michaelrichardskkk and myself when I say that we both like and admire Miss Hepburn's diction. We were being sarcastic in the English manner.

  • You're on your own violinbloke. I still say the wuman can't speek proper!

PS - Whoever said that Americans don't do irony??

  • This from a semi-illiterate butcher of the english language? Yikes, stop pointing out the speck of dust in other people's eyes when you haven't removed the log from yours. LOL

  • Semi-illiterate is good, cos last year I was totaly illiterate. I cooldn't reed or write proper but I did this corse online and now I is having a digree and everything!

I am not a butcher, but I DO have a blog tho. Would you like to reed it? I is learning moor and moor each day!!!

  • I think you need to get out more... :-)

  • Is it true you're a friend of Dorothy? I mean Judy Garland and all that rainbow stuff?

It's just that violinbloke said that you were, but I said no way...

  • This is for michaelrichardskkk. Katharine Hepburn COULD speak properly. Why did you even look this up if you don't like the way she talked?

  • WTF!

  • Wot's that now? Wrestling or sumething?

  • Yeah, I like the WTF, it's american wrestling. I also like the WWF, especially when the panders are fighting!

Did you know sum of them wrestlers are getting estinked?

  • Duh...you speld Eskimoo wrongly.

  • I is not meaning the Eskimoos that is living in the igloos. I is meaning the wrestlers in the WWF who is getting estinked cos they is not breeding.

The females is complaining that the males eats, shoots, and leaves!

  • Oh I sea. But you can't have 2 wrastlers breeding, it wood be unholy.

Plus, what is it got to do with Aubrey hepburn?

  • Yes, its unholy, that's why they is getting estinked!

But don't tell emilymusicfan cos I think she is a friend of Dorethy. She is liking Judy Garland and all that rainbow stuff... :-)

  • Yeah...from the famis Elton Jon album, Yellow brick rode.

  • I think that emilymusic fan likes you. She is saying that she is NOT a lezza!!

  • Do you know what a friend of Dorothy is? A friend of Dorothy is guy who is a fag. I am a straight girl.

  • Girls can be friends of Dorothy too, but I told violinbloke that you weren't.

But do you like Elton John though?

  • No. Do you?

  • Of course I is not liking Elton John! But you DO like Judy Garland though cos you said so on your profile.

And anyone who likes Judy Garland must be a friend of Dorothy, innit.

It dont bother me if you is liking girls but violinbloke is saying that stuff is unholy, and he must know cos he is clever and that, cos he is having a digree!

  • Sorry, I havent got a degree. I am a violin bloke, which means I have anger issues, accordion to my doctor.

BTW...I don't think that Elton Johns was in this film, it was Durk Bogarde, and he definatly wosn't a friend of Dorothy.

  • Well my doctor says its best to get your violins out because that way you is not getting mental.

But I need to get a new shrink cos whenever I hear that Vivaldi, I just want to punch someone!

  • I do like Judy Garland and of course I like Katharine Hepburn. I am straight and I do NOT at all like girls in the wrong way.

  • Well, I is liking girls in the wrong way. In fact, any way I can get them!! :-)

  • What's a nice girl like you doing in a surreal conversation like this?

  • Yeah. What's all this got to do with Berk Dogarde and Audrey Heartburn?

  • this movie was fun

  • The scene of the kiss is different from the one in the movie (and better if you ask me) because the one in the movie is shot from the angle behind Humphrey Bogart.

  • This movie is AWESOME!!! I like it when the German ship captain says: "I now pronounce you man and wife. Proceed with the execution." Lol. I was looking for my copy of the African Queen today. And I couldsn't find it! It's the thirteenth in my Bogie collection and it's GONE!!

  • Look, it is foolish to think that all the bad air now circulating, that has contaminated the air with here in our globe is being filtrate by earth it self some how, and een if that was the case, after all this years, how much will this globe be able to take? For the wellbeing of future generation, our kids and grandkids we must start doing something about the contamination of our globe, and don't say there is noting you can do to help, any thing is something.

  • What are you talking about?

  • i love this movie..i love how hepburn says Charlie.

  • I Hate it and the only pretty part I like iz when the crocodile comes up. Luv dem

  • How can yuo hate it?

  • My fave line: German Ship Captain "You came all the way down the river in that? Impossible!" Kate: "Never-the-less".

  • yep, that's my favourite line also. and the way she says it!

  • B0GART is Priceless... Thanks for uploading this trailer.

Who knows where Bogy may have gone had his life not been cut short. Also, who could even dream up a fantastic relationship as Bogy and Bacall ? Life is Great!

  • The "I'm the captain of this ship!" scene in the trailer is not the one that is in the film. In the one in the film, Bogie nearly pokes Hepburn in the face with the cigar that is sticking out of his mouth. My favorite Bogart movie.

  • A real film, a great film, thanks for the trailer! :-)

  • buy it. it's bloody amazing.

  • do you rep Bloodz?

  • wtf are you on about?

  • wut u mean?

  • boggie got the oscar for that. great great movie, hilarious but some say it's very cheap.

  • oooh, i want to go rent this!
