Fantastic. The first album I every bought was Change of Direction when I was 14, 46 years ago; it was sooo modern and so up-to-date and it still is, because the drums never lie. And great drum music is the heartbeat. Simply brilliant.

Hi everybody!!! Unfortunately I live in Italy, and here Mr Bennett is one of the most underrated drummers; I am always impressed by his wonderful clean touch, awesome taste and level of technique. In my poor opinion he is for drum waht Mr Marvin is for guitar....

In the late (19)fifties early sixties (believe it or not) I was doing some recordings for

Radio Luxembourg Brian Bennet came in to join a group accompanying

Billy Fury. I was very impressed with his drumming and knew then he was

one to watch. This solo proved me right.!!

The Shadows Have always been a big part of my life , and Brian Bennett Is with out question one of the greatest Drummers in the world. He Taste is perfect and his Technique masterful and then he is so compositional on the Drums. whole line of melodies are in there. He was the Reason I studied Drums and became a Professional myself. I met him together with my old Teacher Ed Thigpen In Copenhagen , and I wasn´t disapointed , The Man is as Beautiful as He Plays Drums. A Great Guy.

IMHO Brian is one the most underrated drummers around... The Shadows in their later year gained a very uncool reputation but Mr Bennett was always cool...

How come the sound is so different with the different sticks?

Hot Rods are basically 12-15 smail dowel rods wrapped together. There is some internal vibration among the wood and thus the different sound. It always sounded really "tribal" to do alternating repetitive tom roll sequences with hot rods because they mostly just sound good on the toms.
