@siauderman I think you misunderstood his moot point. Section 29 of the Parliamentary act Chapter 218, does say what you mentioned S29,(2). But his case would be that he gave or "delivered" the papers to the officer behind the counter/table, and the officer took the paper *quote (witness above). He then walked away etc etc.
Section 29, -(4) which you didn't include, said that the papers will then be processed respectively until 12.30pm, upon receiving the papers anytime between 11am to 12 noon.

The crucial question is not whether they were present in the hall or not, but whether the papers were delivered, and whether the delivery could sufficiently be considered to be done "by" the candidates (and by could include being personally handed over by one candidate when it is reasonably clear that the others also have a common intention).
s29(4); the papers were already rejected. That's for objections AFTER the papers are put up on the board.
My personal views: although older folks are able to give valuable knowledge to the younger generations, they should not consistently hold on to the reins. Look at Japan, young grads are less able to find positive and perm jobs due to older workers holding on to their posts, thus the former have little chance to display their capabilities.
My viewpoint is Mr Lee and Mr Chiam should step down and let younger candidates run the show. (sorry that my comment got nothing much to do with the video)
I think that LKY will still win for Tanjong Pagar even if Mr Ng's nomination of contest is accepted. Given the high percentage of elderlies in the constituency, I believe that they will rather support someone familiar and said to be helping them through all these years.

Actually we do have unhappiness about how the government runs. But sometimes, there are good things and bad things. Our government have also safeguard us alot by giving what baby bonus, ns bonus etc.
Im just afraid that if that a new party would have to run the government. It might not be stable as they have no experience of running a country. Something major man.

That's our own money dude. They pay token sum to our NS guys and gives them NS bonus, PCF [PAP's Kindergarten] charges hundred a month and they give baby bonus. Seriously, they give out token sums just to make you think that it's all good.
Lower the cost of living is the right thing to do as a government body. NOT give out money while they continue to let cost of living shoot up.

It's not like this hasn't happened before in previous elections. He should have known. He should have been as diligent as the other candidates and arrived early. Everyone opposition supporter online, including myself, was reminding them to go early, fill up the forms properly, and do everything by the book. There's too much at stake here to risk it.
I'm disappointed and the system sucks, but I think that he deserves some of the blame.

Mr Lee have not had any competition for the past 20 years, 20 years is a long time. You say that it's mainly elderlies staying there, and they will support PAP. But many elderlies there are poor, and the government policies are currently not very 'pro-old-and-poor'. So just what did you base that statement on?

I feel that PAP leaves me with too many unanswered questions. Doubts cast on them are getting more real and disturbing. I thank them for governing well for the past decades and do like most of their principles and the orderliness of Singapore but am now wondering if it is possible to continuing enjoying the 'fruits' but under a more balanced system, with the real presence of a rational and reliable opposition. I do not wish to be disappointed by the PAP as I do see real value in their system. I

@siauderman I think you misunderstood his moot point. Section 29 of the Parliamentary act Chapter 218, does say what you mentioned S29,(2). But his case would be that he gave or "delivered" the papers to the officer behind the counter/table, and the officer took the paper *quote (witness above). He then walked away etc etc.
Section 29, -(4) which you didn't include, said that the papers will then be processed respectively until 12.30pm, upon receiving the papers anytime between 11am to 12 noon.

The crucial question is not whether they were present in the hall or not, but whether the papers were delivered, and whether the delivery could sufficiently be considered to be done "by" the candidates (and by could include being personally handed over by one candidate when it is reasonably clear that the others also have a common intention).
s29(4); the papers were already rejected. That's for objections AFTER the papers are put up on the board.

My personal views: although older folks are able to give valuable knowledge to the younger generations, they should not consistently hold on to the reins. Look at Japan, young grads are less able to find positive and perm jobs due to older workers holding on to their posts, thus the former have little chance to display their capabilities.
My viewpoint is Mr Lee and Mr Chiam should step down and let younger candidates run the show. (sorry that my comment got nothing much to do with the video)

If the candidate is present in the hall and has submitted his application onto the hands of the officer.
Even if the candidate is required to clarify issues with the oath officer in the same hall, he cannot be rejected because the other candidate is there with the officer.

it is their responsibility to submit it on time. It is the same for the officer their responsibility to accept form and stop accepting form at 12. I don’t see the need to push the blame on the officer. The people trusted the guy and raised the fund but they failing to come early and fail to submit it on time, it is their duty to be there and submit don’t expect the officer to remind you, do they need their mother to ask them wake up early for submitting nomination form.
