Interesting mix of images here. I had an ancestor whose regiment was stationed at or at least near Battery Wagner but was rotated out before this assault took place.However, I read somewhere that a North Carolina soldier fired the round that took out Colonel Shaw who led the attack. Since I was born and raised in N.C., I take pride in the marksmanship of the troops from my homeland.
nice video 5-5, nice to see some people cheering the southern defenders, even though my ancestors fought against the south and was captured and died in andersonville prison. But yeah the 54th was the spear point of the attack there were alot of white units. never the less Deo Vin Dice!!!
