Colombia is one of the greatest places on Earth. The troubles are nowhere near like they were 20 or so years ago - in fact you would have to look quite hard to find signs of the old country. It has amazing countryside, mountains, beaches and Amazonia. The food is fantastic and the people are beyond belief. They should be pitying us (I'm English.) They have more than we give them credit for and I for one love them dearly. Go Colombia!

Very high rate of unemployment and killings, basically a country in war. No protection for weak classes of society. Loads of desplazados among campesinos and indigenas. Only protection is to the american corporation that are profiting from the exploitation of one of the richest places on the earth. But colombian ppl think about vallenato and rumba so they can ignore what the narcoterrorista uribe is doing to them. What a pity.

It's the only escape from a reality from which they have no control of they're simply caught in a crossfire and that is the only way they know how to deal with it, but atleast they are or atleast seem to be very satisfied with their lifestyles if you ask me. Colombia and its people just need to catch a break.

I understand colombian situation because it has a lot in common with the italian situation which is where I live: we both live in a dictatorship (we both elected dictators) who are real openly and broadly recognized a mafia bosses. Beautiful, I was dealer of emeralds on the rough thru 20 years (ten years ago) and to me all this mines in Colombia are very familiar. If some body thinks that the "guaqueros" (rough miners with shovels) are abused on any way is wrong, they are satisfied like a poker player looking for good lack at any time, they are happy!!! To get Emeralds in a mine is a tough and excitant adventure. Congratulations Mr. Palin you gat a good video.

Happy in countries that have some of the highest cost of living and SUICICDE RATES, no way, life here in COLOMBIA ( NOT COLUMBIA ) is very good, cheap and happy, no direct contact with guerrilla or anything
