  • Just plain awsome! :)

  • Those smiles look painful.

  • I will NEVER get tired of the Russian Dervish - whether it's this version or the 1995 one.

  • This is art at its best. Amazing. I've watched this since I was a kid, and I can watch it a thousand times a day, and I'll never get bored of it. GENIUS WORK!

  • I liked the 1995 version. It was less.... dramatic

  • It is choreographed by Igor Moiseyev in 1994. Riverdance asked him to put the dance. He gratis did that and sent a group of his dancers(known now as "Moscow Folk Ballet Company") that they have taught Irish. But Riverdance lured those Russian dancers, and they became to dance in Riverdance(but very soon they were sacked). And now in the titles Moiseyev isn't an author. The result-Riverdance making money and not paying for author's rights.

  • 3:16

  • I love the way they smile the ENTIRE way through the routine!!!!! :)

  • This was my favourite bit off the whole video I used to watch when I was about 3 years old. VHS!!

  • I remember loving this dance in the 1995 version and I was very young lol

  • i think the original is more fun to watch

  • I wanna...

  • man... i love this video... i used to watch it so many times... love this one... it has sth especial.

  • Lovely! My son used to watch this when he was a little boy. He loved it. I still do. :-)

  • OMG those are the same dancers from the one in Dublin right? I'd recognize that guy's hair anywhere, lol.

  • frikin awsome :D

  • I miss the klicking sound, thats what I like the most about riverdancing, that and the harmony between the dancers

  • @lonewolf202 this isn't supposed to be irish, it's a russian dance, called The Russian Dervish, it just happens to be in The Riverdance

  • The rhythm is so intense that it could make the dead dance! absolute beauty!

  • 1995 at point theatre is the best version.

  • so beautiful....... I very like the music

  • Thx! I love this dance...PS...it's the 1996 show from new york.

  • they are good but i prefer to trough of 97

  • The russians PWND the Irish bands at this. No offence.

  • The Moiseyev dance troupe; six of them.

  • Very True russians bury irish

  • @coltylerbernard13 I'm more Irish then Russian

  • @Tilehurst Taken

  • @Tilehurst

Agreed. And the editing going on in this one really takes me out of it. Too frantic, it's like they can't stay with one shot for more than a few seconds. Just let me enjoy the dancing, dammit!

  • I always loved the female dancer in the purple, I always favored her the most since I was like five from the original show when she wore the pretty blue dress. ^-^

  • I agree, she was always the most graceful and had the best lines. That why she does the most difficult moves and lifts.

  • Is it true that you'll become this slender just by dancing ? I'm so jealous with them.

  • Start taking casual lessons. You become stronger but the muscle lengthens and compacts so you're strong, but lean and you gain a lot of flexibility. You burn SO many calories. It's great for your health and your memory because there's a lot of memorization going on.

You won't be like them because they were chosen when they were little because of their body type, but dance will slim you out and you'll have so much fun.

Trust me. I was a ballerina for 12 years ;)

  • I've been dancing since I was 3 and I'm still waiting to get that slender.

  • Eat less.

But then you might pass out. Take it from me.

  • No can do. My family's the sworn enemy of Dr. Atkins.

  • Atkins isn't starvation. It's high protein no carbs.

Starving is no protein and no carbs...

You sure you know your dance? Most pros at least know how to starve/purge even if they don't do it.

Still, the life of a dancer is often a hungry one. It's called salad. Enjoy.

  • My family eats carbs like you couldn't imagine, hence I made the comment that I did. And I never said I was a professional dancer, now did I? I'm a pre-med. student who dances on the side. I take Irish dance and ballet, but I will only do them as HOBBIES, not careers. And after seeing many of my friends starve and purge, I vowed to never do that to myself.

CrumblyButGood and myself were joking. I don't seriously want to lose any more weight.

  • Makes sense... though you'll never get that slender if it's just a hobby.

Oh well, dance is fun. Just gotta stay thin. Makes extensions look better.

    Oh well. Keep on dancin'

  • Yeah, I'm happy being curvy :D

  • @Al -Oh you..

Don't mind her. She gets a little irritable when she's hungry. lol. I know her. She's a nice girl, but the ideal body type expected for a dancer gets her down.

It's lovely to know you're pre med and dancing. She and I met in 1st year psych and dance together too

You should be happy being curvy. We look like stickbugs, Al especially.

lol Don't tell her I said that. She'd get mad at me. But she doesn't do 'those' things, she's just maticulous about diet.

    Dance brings such joy, hey?:)

  • Oh yes, the joys of dancing...

And it's okay. Her first comment kind of angered me, because it sounded like a personal attack. Then I reminded myself to lighten up!

There's no way I'll ever be a stick. I'm shaped like every other woman in my family. We aren't fat, but we've sure got curves, and I wouldn't trade that in for the world!

How's psych and dance? Pre-med's a bitch, but I LOVE it!

  • both the girl in the purple skirt and the girl in the blue skirt look like the original dancers from the 1995 dublin show.

  • That's what I was thinking :D

  • qui peut me dire le nom de ce danseur soliste qui fit bercy il y a 2 ans en 2006 ?

  • vot eta da?????

  • I love this very brilliant!

  • amaaazing to be honest

  • i think this is one of my favourite dances ever!!

lol! ive watched it about 10 times now and im still enjoying it :)

  • this one is my fav, and will stay my fav

  • It's a bit embarrassing for the Irish dancers when they are upstaged by one of the 'side' acts. This is a beautiful dance (though not as impressive as Russian/Slavic dancing can be).

  • This always was my favorite dance in the performance! < 333

  • Wow. Another one of the skipped parts of the Radio City show. I notice a difference from the show @ the point. Thye cut that little interlude that they made up. I am glad that they did becuase it was kinda cheesy. Otherwise, LOVEDIT!

  • This was my favorite part of Riverdance growing up! I was amazed my the acrobatics and wanted to be the blue dancer, haha. Her part seemed the most fun out of all of the girls. I saw Riverdance a couple of years ago and was wondering where those original Moscow Folk Ballet Company dancers went? Does anyone know the names of the original Russian Dervish dancers? Just curious :)

  • Нет слов :) Замечательно!

  • Hey, does anybody knows what is the name of that Russian Instrument?

    Looks like a violin!

  • The instrument is called a gadulka. It's a Bulgarian string instrument. Look it up on wikipedia.

  • Thank you very much!

I'm looking for it for years!

  • Beautyfull!

  • i luv this dance. i want that black dress the one with the pink lol

  • Awesome! I've always liked riverdance, but this beats everything I've seen, love it!

  • Yeah, who would have ever thought that the best part of the show Riverdance would be the RUSSIAN dancers? I love it!

  • I have all the Riverdance videos and I watch thos bot over and over!

  • yah baby!!

I freakin have this song on my freakin ipod!!

  • GREAT!!

  • his leaps r friggin amazing at the start

  • me encanta riverdance! pero creo que el director de camaras no sabia lo que hacia, no deja apreciar el baile, les corta los pies y se dedica a grabar la cara bonita de la bailarina :s ni modo al cabo que por ahi anda la otra version :)

  • I love this- I grew up watching it

  • my favourite dance in riverdance! :)

  • Why is it called "Dervish"? It is totally unrelated to the dancing of Dervishes. Apart from that, they are really good.

  • i was wondering the same. my grandparents loved this

  • Even we dont know it. Same for second part of number name, "Macedonian morning".

  • Just watching the spins at the end makes me nauseated...after years and years of dance lessons I still can't spin without getting dizzy!

  • I loved RiverDance for the longest of times. It was such a joy to sit with my mother as a child and watch the show. Every time we went to blockbuster's I would get it. I Still do love it till this very day, great stuff and the music is superb. I love the russian dervish song.

  • Do any of the Russian dancers appear as Irish dancers in Riverdance?

  • No; they're trained in ballet; they are not Irish dancers.

  • I LOVE THIS DANCE ^_^!

  • wait they look like the same ppl from the 1995 one!

  • I agree with Colly11 I like the 1995 version better. Don't get me wrong, I like this one too , but not as much

  • Ya i agreee with geriko2k i like the 1995 version WAY better

  • KRASIVYJ!!!takkkkoj krasivyj tanets!

  • I just saw this one live yesterday here at Mexico City! It's so much better live and they have new stuff going around! I just had to get up and applaud like a maniac!

  • this is great...but i do prefer the old one.

  • Excellent! I see that they borrowed generously from Chechen dancing footwork and acrobatics, too. :)

  • this has always been my favorite part of the show!

  • Mine too, but I love the version from the old show better.

  • wow, that's awesome

  • thats some fance footwork, comrades.

  • Wow...This is beautiful.

    Those dancers are talented:)
