What about a point and shoot that has no manual controls, no hot shoe, or connection for external flash? Then buying a DSLR for no other reason than having manual makes it a better camera because you can choose how you want to capture your photos.
The lumix lx5 ,Canon G series,Nikon p7000 ,Leica 4-lux and 5lux all have a bigger sensor than any point and shoot it's a 1/1.63 -1/1.7 inch CCD sensor compared to point and shoots sensor at 1/2.33 inch sensor, allthough some 1/2.33 sensors have great quality when they're back iulluminated or constructed diffrently ;)
Lovely... Thanks for Inspiring me with your Video, I'm planning to buy on of the G series for my second camera. Thanks for showing me thats this cam is worth... Cheers ^_^
It's interesting you post this video but you dont mention that the G11 is the price of a starting DSLR, why didn't you shoot with a simpler P&S? lack of controls maybe? this one is a bridge so meaning is between compact and DSLR, of course you can have nice quality photos, but for the price of this camera i would rather have a entry level DSLR.
@Duchovny13 G11 is what I've got from a friend:-) basically it can be any P&S camera with manual mode (aperture + shutter set manullay) and hot shot or other sync with external flash.
The difference would be only in image quality.. which is not relevant if you shoot for web only.
BTW, you are right: it will look much cooler if I'd use something for $150 instead.
use them the saem as expencive ones:-) I work with strobes, cheap strobe cost starts from $30 for each (see my blog post) . The main difference is the strobe power, so with cheaper one you'd have to use wider aperture, or higher ISO to ge the same result.
The most important HOW to highlight the object, not what light to use for this. :-)
Wow, nice!!

@AKELstudio There is another difference... the G11 you can put into your jacket. A DSLR you can´t.
