@BauerBro--holy cow, LOL, you remember that TOO?? I watched that day too and couldn't BELIEVE they'd be killing off Victor! I couldn't wait until Monday to see the outcome and sure enough...damn, Victor WAS dead!! I also watched days before when Dorian confessed to Victor she only married him for his money and fame. "You want the truth, you've got it..." she said...as she also confessed that him touching her disgusted her...that's when he was hit with his heart attack and she stood & watched...

@phillyvideofan Yes, and after his heart attack, Dorian kept him at home so that she could "care" for him, which mainly involved injecting him with sedatives so he couldn't call his lawyer and change his Will. I think it was Viki who insisted he be moved to the hospital. This was a very disturbing storyline to me then; I felt very sorry for Victor being abused by his gold-digger wife, Dorian. Of course, this was long before his back-story was rewritten and he became a pedophile monster.

I watched Victor's death in 1976, He was in the hospital after Dorian withheld treatment . At one point, Viki told the nurse she'd be down in the garden if Victor needed her. When he took a turn for the worse, the nurse started for the garden, but Dorian misled her and told her Viki was in the solarium instead. In his hospital bed, Victor was thinking to himself, "I don't have much time," and he said to the nurse, "Tell Viki..." and then he flatlined as the doctor and nurse looked shocked.

@BauerBro So we saw Victor flatline on screen infront of the viewer a doctor and a nurse.  So the smother thing was a total rewrite?

@scottyfilmbuff Yes, total rewrite. Viki was down in the garden with Joe (her husband). I believe Dorian was there, but the doctor made her wait outside the room while he worked on Victor. And Viki had not had any DID episodes since she was integrated in the 60s. Her biggest problem at the time was the risky pregnancy she was having (with Kevin).

I guess the writers do these rewrites because they figure most of the current audience wasn't watching 20 years ago. But some of us do remain.

@scottyfilmbuff Yep it was a rewrite. If you look at Robin Strasser's wiki she talks about this very subject. Interesting, but for us long time fans it was a black mark on the series.

@bmf1706 I'd love to see that bmf however the original footage is Dorian withholding medication while keeping Victor who was dying from his 2 kids Viki & Tony. When Viki finally managed to get through he started to tell him 'Dorian' and he died on screen. Viki was pregnant with Kevin at the time.

That's the difficult part of the rewrite. His death was on screen in 1976

@bigal650 What I hate is that over the years the writers insinuated that Dorian murdered Victor and so they said he was smothered. What actually happened--the witholding of medication--is not murder, in legal terms, but criminal negligence. I alawys felt that the rewrite was brought about b/c of the "murder" part of it...
