With a normal bump key you can put a little rubber ring around it against the shoulder. It's easier. Than you can hit it multiple times without letting go of the key. But your sollution is good too.

Cashpoint machines have multiple pin-hole cameras and combined they give quite a high resolution picture. Attempts to bump a lock alert the local Police. I mean nobody ever said anything about breaking into someone's house. what if you lose your key and get lost outside of your house or combination to locker? Nobody said that people want to use bump keys for breaking into people's homes and stealing things. This nice man posted this for those of us who pick locks for the sport or for function and you all are condemning him. I mean really. If you lose your key to your house, or if you forget your combination at school, or any number of situations where no ilegallity is promoted, why go through the trouble of a locksmith and being locked out of your house, locker, etc? Just use a bump key you carry.

The only reason to have bump keys is to steal what someone else worked hard to earn. If I catch one of them, they will hope the cops come to rescue them. There is a swamp a few miles from my house. EVERYTHING disappears in that swamp....

that is a good tip for beginners.

i have one bumpkey that i removed the shoulder all together and put a rubber ring on it. and another one with a small notch filed in it where a small rubber band rests. this way it has the same effect as the minimal movement method but the shoulder cannot contact the lock. so there is no chance of the key denting the lock.
