The Catholic Church has made mistakes over the years. The Church is run by human beings, like all churches. The word of God is pure, but we make mistakes. I am happy to call myself Christian, for I believe in he Word of God.
But there were many many many ordinary people who were good Teachers and Helpers of many states and were given 'free reign' to help society in those times.
You must remember those were times when other things were going on like 'the first mass unemployment' the first world war, the second world war, Stalinism, hiterlism, and son on.
These people were given a blank cheque to support society at THAT TIME
I believe that Pope John Paul II did a great deal in acknowledging and repenting the sins of the church in the past. He did a lot for inter-faith relations as well as deep repentance for the sins of the past. I don't know what your personal beef is, but the doctrine of the Catholic Church is not flawed, only the failure of certain people, past and present, to remain faithful to it. The laws are clear, they just have to be adhered to.
I guess like Confession, which was thought up around 400AD by the Irish Catholic Church. They devised it to keep the Irish assholes in line and the local church "Father" to have his thumb on the locals. This also came in handy when outraged parents realized Father "xyz" was sucking their sons' dick or worse. Any Catholic must admit the child abuse has been going on for hundreds of years, but now priests cannot threaten parents with Eternal Damnation.
everyone wants to point out the "sins' of the church. How about all the souls who've been saved by adhering to the church's rules. Sure people SIN who belong to the catholic church. They're human, they're not perfect. They fall, they get up and they TRY again.
The catholic church has a lot to answer for in this world and it hasn't answered for much of it yet. They have a lot to answer for. The catholic heirarchy has much to apologise for...as does it's footsoldiers. May God forgive them because there are many on earth who never will.
Judas betrayed Jesus when he turned him over to his enmies to be crucified .Does this make the other disciples traitor's of Jesus as well? When clergy and others go against the teachings of the church by comitting mortal sins they betray the faith that Christ has founded. The religion is perfect, people are NOT perfect. So why are you punishing the religion for the mnistakes of human beings?
The author was the writer Franz Werfel, a Jewish refugee from Nazi Austria who hid in Lourdes and promised the Mother of God that if she helped him escape from Occupied Europe, he woul write a book about Bernadette and the Apparitions. Werfel reached New York and carried out his promise. The book 'The Song of Bernadette' is brilliant, beautiful, and accurate. I have read it twice and recommend this book to you.
brilliant. our elder brothers will soon be one with us. another man escaped the same war, came to america, and spred the divine mercy message. oh, so sorry to think that this country which has given the world so much, is also to be destroyed. only knowing that God has already won saves us from such sadness.
