a jaeger is Hong so Jong's first release move. It is a front flip usually done from an L-grip or a reverse grip, which means when the gymnast releases from the bar she is facing towards the bar. People do it straddled, piked or laid out, but it doesn't have a twist. A gienger is a back pike with 1/2 twist, which means the gymnast releases and is facing away from the bar, so while flipping in the air they do a 1/2 twist to end up facing the bar when they catch it
She did the same routine @ the world championship event finals of 2007 - with just as impeccable form. However, if Jong is going to threaten for a medal at the Beijing Olympics, she will have to upgrade her UB, perhaps with a new combination/release move; I'm sure she can also handle a full twist to her dismount.
@mrparke007 Karpenko never performed this, but Mo Huilan did. What Karpenko did (very nicely at that) is a hecht from cler hip... which involves no counter rotation as opposed to this clear hip shoot as shown by Hong Su Jong
@mrparke007 i just checked again and she does a clear hip hecht and then the second transition she does from LB to HB is simply a toe-on shoot, but not a clear hip shoot. watche her 2000 EF routine again if you don't believe me
@lepetitpoulet You originally said that Karpenko didn't do a move with counter rotation, but obviously this is just miscommunication. And a toe shoot and clear shoot are the same value in the CoP, yet we see less of the latter. Shame, b/c the clear shoot is prettier.
amazing routine. great!

That bail to hs-free hip front straddle combo is crazy. I've never seen anyone do that. Beautiful dlo, too.

@lepetitpoulet Yes she did. Karpenko did both a clear hip hecht and a clear hip shoot. Watch her routine from 2000 Oly EF.
