@foughtwolf- It's the track itself. It's called superelevation, and it keeps the heavy freight cars from falling off the outside of the curve, and keeps faster trains, like Amtrak, from doing the same.
It's not the wrong main if it's double-track ctc. If the railroad is signalled for it, the trains can run in either direction on either track, and the volume of traffic too.
In the UK, the definition is "Running wrong-line". I'll tell you why the British tend travel on this side... It's traditional. Most people are right-handed, and as such, they'd use their right hand to shake hands, proving that they were friendly. If somebody offered their left hand, then the other person would jump out of the way because he may be carrying a knife... Hence the reason the British travel on the left-hand side.
Wrong railed-it means they are running against the normal flow of traffic....most railroads in he US Canada and Mexico...if there are 2 tracks, run on the right hand track...but these trains are running on the left side..

In Sweden it's common that trains run at the left side. They haven't done anything to the railtrack since cars got left right side driving.
