I think I remember seeing this on TV. Love the Nehru jackets - reminiscent of the Beatles last 1966 tour. Adventures in Utopia, I believe was the album that was released right after "Deface The Music." Anyone know what kind of device is on Todd's microphone. I'm guessing some sort of pre-mixed echo send unit. The 3 part vocals are phenomenal live on this song!
@Galantski This song is from "A Wizard, A True Star" Utopia album, from the early '70's. EXCELLENT concept album, in the same league as "Something?-Anything."
@Iamheofwhomhespeaks - I must correct you about this. It's from "Adventures in Utopia' (1980). Also, "A Wizard, A True Star" (1973) was not a Utopia project, but Rundgren solo effort years before he formed the group. "AWATS" is similar to "Something/Anything?", but more psychedelic. Back to my comment on this song; although recorded in '80, it's different from most Utopia prog rock, being very retro and sounding like Todd's mid-60's group Nazz. If you like this, you'll like "Not wrong long".
@Galantski Thanks for setting me straight--I have AWATS on vinyl, AiU on cassette; I just turned 59 and my memory's starting to get a little hazy, lol. And I do see your point about "The Very Last Time," it might have actually been written around that time; could easily "fit" on any Todd album, except for maybe "Deface the Music." : )
It is so cool to see how Todd and the guys were in the beginning. YOu know with Todd and the helm he always seemed to be learning as an artist trying new things.
Doing Second Wind which in my opinion was awesome. We hardly hear anything from that anymour that is a shame. But what I am getting at Todd is never stagnant in his art He is always pushing himself . It seems as if he loves to perform no matter the size of the venue. I still am hoping there will be another tour this year Milan276

there was a time in my life when i heard todd sing ; i could swear that he knew what was happening in my love life at that very momment! we gotta get you a woman' would fit very nicely right now!!
I saw this show too. Dinah Shore was a guest. She commented on how beautiful "Love is the answer" was. Cool compliment from a lady from an older generation...
This song say's a lot! If you've ever been hurt in a relationship! I've used a couple of those line's myself"Nobody knows how you treat me like dirt,Nobody knows just how badly a man can hurt,You've got a lesson to learn." Those line's speak volume's when you've been hurt by someone.
Man, I can't believe I almost made it to 40 without hearing more than a couple songs from these guys -- and I never did like the ones I have heard (on the radio). This is really good stuff. Gonna YT up some more after I get some sleep -- I'd still hear it now, but my eyes are getting too bleary to see the screen, LOL.
br549, I caught one with them together, but someone slipped a mickey in my bottle, and I was seeing double all evening-not that it distracted from the show, LOL!, cause great music always penetrates, right?
Another underrated rocker from the skinny veggie guy...I saw them on "TMDS" back in '78, but missed this performance, but I'm glad I got to see/hear it.
I went to that tour, they played two sets a total of 3 hrs Utopia and it rocked from begining to end. I saw them at the creek in Los Angeles, anyone else see that show
I searched and searched and came up with a couple "Todd Is God" sites. But I didn't see anything from Kalamazoo. The site I was talking about is run by Lynn. She apparently has Todd's permission. It's an official site and its a cool one! The place to get all the new info . .

Utopia was a FIERCE live band in the late 70s/early 80s...I would hate to be in a band that played after them on a bill!

Yeah, I saw him and Kazim do double kicks during, "Couldn't I Just Tell You," in a few concerts over the years.
Always great music, and great performances!

br549,
No I hadn't, but thanks much for the info.
Seems to me, If Todd has ever really had a close friend, in music, it's Kasim.
Seen Todd with and without him, and the only time he really converses/laughs with anyone, are those times with kasim.
Thanks again.
