I had the chance to spend 1 1/2 hours with Tommy when he invited me into a sound check prior to a show a couple years ago. He was so very kind and personable. He clearly loves and probably lives to play guitar for people. However, what struck me at the time and then to see the show a few hours later, when he plays, it didn't seem to mattter if the room was full or it was only me. When he closed his eyes, he was just doing what he loves and I believe HAS TO DO. He was just enjoying the sound.

I met him...I was at Windsor to see one of his biggest fans play and he came trotting by and I mentioned to him that he "looked like that tommy emmanuel guy" which he smiled and say "nah, not me"....and ran off... Kind of "cheeky" as the brits might say.

this is so cool, i had a similar experience in norman oklahoma last february. i volunteered to usher at his show and was allowed to bring my guitar and he showed me some stuff of "those who wait" and he signed my guitar. tommy is so cool for doing stuff like this, he probably doesn't remember me at all but i definitely won't forget it

theres not much left to say.... im just soo soo lucky to have met him that day. tommy seemed like a genuinely nice person despite the fact that i barely talked and just stared at him for the whole time bc i was so nervous. he really didnt have to take the time to play with me and teach me ( my friends and i were the only ones there) because he just finished the 3 hr workshop which other people payed 90 dollars for.
