I love a good joke and found the first part funny, but there is nothing brilliant or funny about making fun of African heritage folks creating new names. Our people, the Acadians and the Cajuns, were put down for centuries for being different, talking and living differently. We are smart and funny enough to find humor without attacking or putting down other people.
@codofil political correctness is what is such a shame in this country. Some things are just like "Larry" says "That there's funny! I don't care who you are!" Prudes, sticks in the mud, and "Race Hustlers" are the only ones who have a problem with it. Oh, and people who feel guilty. If we can't look at ourselves and laugh...we've got a real problem.
@codofil btw your fucking retarded. you point out how its funny when they are making fun of cajuns, but when they throw in a few nigger names, you pull the race card. Return your computer back to whomever you stole it from you hypocritical bastard.
@codofil To defend the kids (not that they need it), I think they're spoofing Top 60 Ghetto __ names. The everyday names we have/ recognize, people from other areas can't even begin to pronounce (similar to the way certain Afr-Amer first names are strange looking/ sounding). The pockets of deep seeded racism remaining in our state and country only makes our nation weaker and most of us realize that. An off color joke CAN be funny without being an attack/put down. I can hope that was true here.
@0ShreddedLettuce0 I had a frown/ smile on my face for most of it. When you guys got to #1 (brilliant, by the way), I split my side laughing. I think it's awesome ya'll are keeping our French dialect alive.
@mrburkett1645 It's pronounced "MESH". its not mexican "nigga"! If you've ever been to louisiana... you would know that the best donuts in town are from "Meche's Donuts". Please STFU, if you don't know what you're talking about. Thanks and have a nice day!.
@baileighAM Yea I've only lived in Louisiana my whole life T-Nig n still never heard of these "Meche's Donuts". I know two Mexicans with that last name so just cuz you have a donut shack named after you doesn't mean you're anything special hoss...and thanks I will have a nice day =)
@mrburkett1645 Want a cookie? Go look it up on the internet.. And yes, it is a french name. I don't care how many Mexican's have it, because that means nothing to me. And what does it matter to you anyway?
@mrburkett1645 And you are just the coolest. Thanks for being a teacher who doesn't even know what they are talking about. Seems I have a lot of those these days. SHUT UP!
@mrburkett1645 HOW COULD YOU LIVE IN LOUISIANA & NOT KNOW WHAT MECHE'S IS????
THEY ONLY MAKE THE BEST KING CAKES IN THE WHOLE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!
The only way you can not know about Meche's & live in LA is if you life up north which is not the same. Not meaning to offend cuz da other day my dad was talkin 2 some people from Monroe & said somethin about them being from way up there and they seemed kinda offended, so not meanign it as an insult but you have 2 b from up there to not knkow Meche's
@nemo123489. No one outside of Acadiana knows Meche's Bakery exists. I'd put Meche's up against anybody's favorite donut. King cake masters are bakeries in Metairie and New Orleans: Maurice's, Haydel's, Randazzo's. (RIP McKenzie's). Treat yourself & try one from each next year; it'll change your life. And, as for your comment about Monroe being too north, in LA, I think anything above Opelousas/ Ville Platte shouldn't even be considered Louisiana. It's hard to remember Lake Charles even exists.
Cajun is short for Acadien (Canadian)....Acadien is pronounced: ah cah dee ann......it was shortened by dropping the "ah" to just cah dee ann. If you say it fast, it sounds more like cah jan. Well English people messed up the "cah jan" and said it with a long "a" sound--cay jan... Which leads us to the current spelling...Cajun!
Yes, Huy..... Louisiana was established as a French Colony in 1699. It is named after French King Louis XIV. New Orleans is named for his nephew, Philippe, Duke of Orleans.
His great-grandson, Louis XV sold the colony to Spain, in whose hands it remained until the early 19th Century.
@EvangelineSO80 That's exactly what I was thinking! My last name is Soileau and I thought it'll be on there... One of the weirdest Cajun names, I think.
So if you find yourself bleeding to death from massive stab wounds one of these days, I apologize in advance. But really, it would be your own fault for not including Babineaux. My mom is serious about her cajun roots.
Sorry guys, I know you spelled my last name wrong. But I don't think anyone down the bayou spells it like that either. I only know of Serigny's or Serigne's. Besides that, this was freakin' hilarious! LOVED IT!
This video is great, but it would be even better REMIXED.
