The number rating system is so biased, if he hadn't given it a number this would have been a decent review. It told people what the game is about and he basically said it's an extremely polished game in it's own right.

YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT @shinymedia!!! Lost Odyssey made me feel what Final Fantasy XIII couldn't. And how in hell, are you comparing Mass Effect with Lost Odyssey...plus isn't the retro RPG's like Final Fantasy VII, VIII and IX the ones that made us fall in love with the genre? Most games from these era have moved on from turn based fights? Well I guess that's the reason why they suck so much...they take so much time on the fight system and forget about the story....<3 L.O.

If I have an old school RPG, it almost HAS to be 2D. For some reason, turn based JRPGs in 3D worlds really turn me away.

And the voice acting in this game doesn't strike my fancy about half the time.

Does anyone else think this guy just has a massive boner for Mass Effect, & anything aside from Mass Effect 2 is crap in his opinion? Lost Odyssey is a pretty decent game in my opinion, with a moving soundtrack & fantastic voice acting. Yes it's a basic RPG, that's been polished, & yes it has alot of random encounters... but surely that's kinda what people expect from an RPG? At least, people with a brain in their damn nut.

I own and played a lot BOTH Mass Effect and Lost Odyssey... and I've got to say that to me the latter is a splendid RPG with deep characters and themes (although not everything is carried on well...)

For Mass Effect I was especting a larger use of RPG's canons... instead there's only a (widely predictable) "choose your story" thing... There's absolutely no pathos in Mass Effect... though is quite entertaining to create a character and destroy the galaxy with him/her! ;)

Why review a game in a genre that clearly conjures in you such utter disgust? Classic game done to perfection: 7/10? If it were some type of classic shooter-style game that you actually liked to begin with "done to perfection" I'd bet you'd give it a better score. You're a tool mate.
