Not what I heard: Wikipedia is where I read that the "Love Rollercaster" legend is what inspired the death; the legend is real and popular, and the filmmakers were hinting at this during the party scene.
This death is based on the myth that came from the '70s about the song "Love Rollercoasters". In the song, there's a loud scream by a girl who was said to be an actual murder victim whose murder was somehow recorded and mixed into the studio's master tape. At the party that takes place before this scene, "Love Rollercoasters" is playing and the partygoers pause to hear the woman's scream. Sasha REALLY IS attacked and her screams are heard over her radio broadcast - and so is her murder.

In Urban Legend 1 it turns out it's Natalie's friend Brenda because a couple of years before Natalie and her old friend Michelle played and Urban Legend on a man but it killed him and it turns out it was Brenda's boyfriend.
In Urban Legend 2 it's a collage professor because he made a film in collage but his film was a tie against another film and the character Amy's father voted against the other film and it robbed professor Solomon of the career he should've had in hollywood.
