  • Did you have bottom end work done on the engine. I have a 2001 2V GT and I'm a little nervouse about SC it without a forged bottom end. I have a vid posed of it againced a 2003 Termmy at the track. I lost, but not by much.

  • The 95 cobra r had a 351 pushrod style engine. The 2000 cobra r had a 5.4 DOHC modular engine in it. Both cars were naturally aspirated

  • hmmmmm....nice....but i gotta say im not a fan of the new Mustang GTs...all their owners think they have such a big dick once they buy one...its a freakin 4.6L 3V SOHC....cmon...its not that good lol...i cant tell you how many GTs iv smoked in my GTO and then been told off by their asshole drivers.....but i gotta respect that DOHC 4V 4.6 V8....even with a not so great eaton blower than thing is wicked....im a Chevy/Pontiac fan, but i would def. buy a Cobra Term. if i was given the chance.

  • This guys got a supercharger. He should win. It's basically the same engine. But I guaruntee he is runnin a better s/c than the stock m112 eaton supercharger that comes on the cobra.

  • UMMM, no, the cobra has a way better engine, the cobra is a DOHC 4v 4.6L V8 and the GT is a SOHC 3v 4.6L V8, and the GT is 500+Lbs more.

The 4.6 terminators where just actually stock cobras but since they come out in 2003 and 2004 when the terminators did ford slapped the terminator sticker on them 2

  • @jfkyz125 This guy is referring to the 1995 Cobra R; which in that respect, he is correct. The '95 Cobra R did come with a 5.8 Windsor.

  • @jfkyz125 Actually you are wrong dumbass !! The 95 Cobra "R" was NEVER called a Terminator as they were a beast all to themselves, you are correct about the engine so i will give you that. The 2000 Cobra "R" had a 5.4 L D.O.H.C N/A modular engine . The REAL Terminator Cobras were the 2003 & 2004 4.6L D.O.H.C modular engine with Eaton M-112 Superchargers.

  • @jfkyz125 in 2000, ford came out with the svt cobra r and it had the same 5.4 as the ford lightning

  • @yanster420 not quite the same engine as the Lightning. the Lightning is a 5.4 2 valve engine with a roots style supercharger. the 2k Cobra R was a 5.4 4 valve naturally aspirated engine. also the Lightning's engine block was made of iron while the Cobra R's engine block was made of aluminum to help keep weight down. needless to say there were many other bells and whistles that were upgraded for the Cobra R's engine, but that ends up being minor details about the engine.

  • all about the hook up for sure my buddy had a 03 cobra i saw it make over 500 to the wheels but never could get it to hook and never ran faster then a 13 flat and yes im a chevy guy but even i felt bad because i know that thing should have been way faster poor guy

  • put some drag radials on it, you should run 11's

  • The IRS in cobras is a major problem with getting them to hook. Wheel hop is almost impossible to avoid without building the IRS up. Tell your buddy to get a IRS brace, subframe connectors, and some good drag radials. It'll hook HARD. Should be in the 11's at least. These cars do mid 12's STOCK.

  • I don't think a helmet will really help you if your car flips over... (just a joke- I know they're required but WTF)

    Cages are usually required with functional roll bars and not those fiberglass turds.

    To put my car on the track, I'd need a cage, helmet, and perhaps a chute depending on the track. Some tracks require chutes at 11.

    Call your track and ask before wasting a trip only to find out you don't have what it takes...

  • 11 in the 1/4 mile translates to about 120-135mph depending on the torque output of your engine and the gearing.

    One of the main reasons that chutes are required is that to stop a car moving that fast would induce SO much heat into the rotors that they might explode.

  • yea Id say most cars usually run about 120mph trap speeds but there are the few that run high speeds at the end. but I agree with the other guy a chute on a 11 sec car is a little redicluious compared to over here. around here we need a helment in any sub 14 sec car cage in any sub 12 sec car and a chute on any sub 10 sec car. I guess its kinda ironic that there all 2 secs apart from each other just now relized that lol. maybe your tracks system is better

  • Allenmoomey is somewhat right- a 3200 stall on your TC is not helping you- your KB gets full boost at 2400.

    Get a 9.5" TC with a 2400 stall / 2600 flash and you'll probably hit a 11.2 or perhaps less.

  • If he is hooking at 3200 with full boost he is better off launching at 3200 whether the KB makes full boost at 2400 is irrelevent. The car is making more power at 3200 than it is a 2400. He would only benefit launching at 2400 if he can't dead hook at 3200.

  • But the KB makes plenty of power at 2400 rpms. You're right about hooking though... Best to run at the max rpm that you can hook at.

    I agree with you, but I was just saying that if hooking is an issue he should try it at a lower rpm (or invest in better tires ;) )

  • yea obviously the higher rpm he can start at but still hook would be ideal
