what is trackir 5? i always hear people go on about it in MP but i dont know what it is

Its a usb tracking device that hooks up to your PC and basically sits on top of your LCD facing you.

It tracks you by monitoring reflectors or led's on another part of the trackir kit which attaches to your headset or cap.

Whatever way you turn your head and look in real life it emulates / mimics that into the actual game, real time.

I've got one, a Track IR 5 and its awesome especially when your a pilot.

Its wicked for advance observation of approaching enemy.

Nice video Dslyecxi, thanks. Are you able to comment on the gameplay at all or does the NDA not allow that? I'd love to know if there are noticeable improvements in the AI? I know BIS have been talking the AI up a lot but i seem to remember the same thing before Arma came out and for me the biggest disappointment was constantly hearing "where are you?" because my team would get confused if I ran or went around a building! Or being totally ignored when i gave an order!

I've never used one with a window behind me, but according to the specs of the TIR5, it is supposed to handle that better + have better options for dealing with that which can be tweaked.

i got TIR4, and yes it does.. but i got shutters so thats no problem.. also playing in the dark really sucks you up into the game!

It would be sick to have a game like Battle Field exept more logical, like you could have missions where you have air plane fights and missions where you are just on the ground and naval mission and land downs and extractions all of this online but a game where you could have some players take off in a plane 20 minutes walk away and have them bomb some other players who have anti air craft fire I mean it would be sick no?

At 0:52 you can see that roads far away look really good. The underlying satmap? is clearer or the roads are enhanced to keep the clear look even when the textures arent loaded upon them. Dont know how that works exactlly but my point is - No more weird blurry roads far away woot. :)

The road thing is definitely a big plus for pilots. I hated how the roads in ArmA would disappear at very long ranges.

Also for immersion for everyone in there. Scouting from a high hill or mountain and you will actually see the roads in the distance. Snipers will see enemies walk on a road. :) Great improvement definatelly. i honestly thaught it would be left as it is in AA1. Not cause BIS didnt care, but that it could been overlooked cause of other things. Attention to details in ARMA2 so it seems. BIS is BACK!
