No! An 80feet Basilosaurus must have been at least 30t in weight, even though it was very slender. For a 25m long fin whale a weight of 70t has been calculated, and even these are very slender. And average great whites don´t weight 3t, only the very largest reach such a weight.

I am going to go with the Megalodon. They were about the same size but Basilosaurus did not have the damage inflicting and wide jaws that the Meg had. The Meg also had girth. Let's face it, the true test would be a Meg v a Mosasaur v Predator X. Those are the top 3 known apex predators of all time. They would each make lunch out of Bailosaurus, though Bail might still be the most formidable whale of all time. I bet we haven't even discovered many of the baddest.
@TheMidnightLycan there were others I could have added including liopleurodon and predator x which might have been a bigger and tougher type of liopleurodon.
You failed at biology so hard that your failure went back in time and killed both the megalodons and basilosaurus in their respective time periods. How can any creature grow to 80 feet and weigh only 7 tons? Unless basilisaurus had a freaking helium gland, it weighed considerably more than that.
aww!!! poor horsey!! i know what your thinking..but im a little bit of a scientist myself (what i mean by that is i read alot!) anyway on 1:22 i am postive that that is 1 of the horses' ancesters i may be wrong...but i am actually a horse freak....so why am i watching this............i have no idea but its so cool and interesting!!!! and its really scary how the creatures actually once lived!!! but i have to say the Megaloden scares me most!! i mean how can something be that big well anyway bye

@KuromametchiDUDE Nope, it's definetly Carcharoclese. Great whites were not closely related to megalodon. Great white evolved from the mako group, as evidenced by the transitional teeth that fall between the isurus hastalas, and the modern great white. I own a couple of those transitional teeth with varying levels of transitional serrations. The megalodon and the great white shared a common ancestor in the cretaceous period. "cretolamna appendiculata ".

megalodon would win for the fact its bite force was stronger & its weight was more also megolodon hunted big prey 90% of the time & was left out megalodon could reach up to 75 feet in length but a full grown basilosaurus would still be 5 feet bigger then a full grown megalodon thats it
megalodon would be stronger since its a full agua creature while the whale was not it needed to breathe air but i dont think even if they lived together megalodon would not attack a basilosaurus because the basi would probanlly be in a small pod
missing one point, theres evidence to show that basilosaurus hunted in pods of around 5-7 whales. megalodon would have no chance aginst a pod of the whales
The funny part was, Discovery channel verified that the could and have eaten megaldons. Funnier still, mosasaur would have made mincemeat out of both of em.
Basilosaurus weight is somewhat hard to found on the web. But viewing its thin shape, it wasn't surely as heavy as a modern sperm whale.
However, Basilosaurus could have reached more than 75 feet long which makes it maybe the longest predatory vertebrate ever. At this lenght it could have weighed more than 50 tons indeed.
However, it is the same weight estimated for a 50 feet Meg, and Meg is estimated up to 70 feet long for more than 100 tons.
Yup its me again just tellin ya the whale in this video was the grandpa of all whales and was proven to actually kill sharks of many sorts I mean its whale that is wat it is supposed to do though the megaladon was a whale kill I believe this one wuld end in a stand still no winners both morbidly wounded and was destined to die soon after words
The source I found had a listing of the largest sea predators and Basilosaurus beat the megalodon at 60 feet 80 tons compared to the megalodon's 60 feet 55 tons... so Basilosaurus would win by sear mass/weight.

@animalwarz the bite force of a meg was about 20.1 tons and also meg could grow to 73 ft but actually if these 2 were to fight i know you love the meg but i think the baliasaurus would have the better chance even though the meg has a bigger bite force the baliasaurus was a faster swimmer and its blubber since its a whale the ammount of fat it hade was about 4-5ft deep and dont forgot the baliasaurus has a bite force of 13tons so dont count it out but it would be one hell of a fight
@animalwarz there is a source that says up to 7 tons, but I also found one saying 50-75 tons, which is a ridiculous discrepancy from 7 tons. So I guess we're just unsure?
@apstenzel07 Yeah, it was easy to find those sites. But one must use better judgement. An animal that size is easily going to be 50 tons or so. Just like a sperm whale of the same size. And that 1 site that says 7 tons is worthless kiddy shit. These guys who put up this Meg vs. need to state facts!
when was 7 tons light??? that's like a semi truck, and those are made from metal (which has a high density)
what physics class did you ever go to? your logic is among the most stupid gibberish I've ever read. since when does outright mass have anything to do with if a marine animal can swim or not?
and IF your warped logic that an animal needs to be heavy enough to be able to dive how the fuck does it float then at all, and not sink like a rock??
Btw, for the Basilosaurus it would probably be 70 tons. Somebody probably left out the 0. Nonetheless weight in comparison to size doesn't equal "air filled balloon" which floats like a cork. This is not some ship we're talking about here.
@VIT0R1984 We also have some vertebrate column. If you were hinting it's possible that it isn't a shark at all, the skull and the whole body should be preserved because it won't be made of cartilage. The life span is estimated to be 40 years and up. And just by looking at its teeth, you know its large. Fossil evidence also shows it preyed on whales. It must be very large to be preying on whales... by the way, cretoxyrhina is a shark too so whys it in your list?
@VIT0R1984 These videos are fairly old. I will be making another video soon.. They will be much more accurate. Believe me :) I have to say I was sort of biased with megalodon but I honestly don't think there were much that could be a match for megalodon

@bretoSXT 36 FRIKEN METERS!? Dream on bub. The LARGEST tooth known indicates an animal 20m long, based on the LARGEST fossils. Teeth from 15m animals are also known, meaning 20m probally wasnt a common average length, but a large animal. 36m is pure fantasy.
Oh, and dont reply with anything like 'megalodon was 120ft long go reaserch it', as for starters its correct name is Carcharocles 9you always name it via its genus name, Carcharocles is the genus, not megalodon, thats the species name).
i agree with you with the 20 meters.i'ts probably 16-18 meters long a normal adult.
Another thing is the Carcharocles or Carchardon are only hypothesis because none of paleontologist or scientist can specify the genus.so is disputed
Carcharocles or Carchardon megalodon.i think we can called C.Megaldon simply Megalodon.( i know in the 1995 his genus was considerated Carcharocles ).
Megalodon is still da SPECIES name, but usually we call animals by usin deir GENUS names, dont we? Or maybe do we call triceratops just "horridus", giganotosaurus just "carolinii" or spinosaurus just "aegyptiacus"? ;)
GUYS, dat shark MUST be called CARCHAROCLES, not carcharodon and/or megalodon. Megalodon is an old name created when it was thought 2 be a species belongin 2 da same genus of da great white shark (CARCHARODON carcharias). Dey used 2 call it carcharodon megalodon (in orda 2 differentiate it from da great white shark), but dan palaeontologists realized it wasnt close 2 da great white, so a new genus has been used from dat time: CARCHAROCLES
Meg's size estimate is outdated, based on the largest tooth and using the latest and most agreed upon size estimation methods put the owner of said tooth at a lenght of 68 ft and 100+ tonnes, max sized meg could very well be larger still, mabe 75tf +, there is no telling as larger teeth are being uncovered every now and then.

@BreyerFreak505 Yes. That was one of the early horses, I'm a Prehistoric geek...
The thing that was eating it was the small early Basilosaurus, it evolved into the big - 80 feet creatures.
But its true, the Megalodon ate whales for breakfast! Though, they lived at different time periods...
Basilosaurus lived nearly 40 million years ago, I've read... The Megalodon lived 16 to as recent as 1.6 million years ago!

Oh, and dont reply with anything like 'megalodon was 120ft long go reaserch it', as for starters its correct name is Carcharocles 9you always name it via its genus name, Carcharocles is the genus, not megalodon, thats the species name).

@MetaKnightsKirby
i agree with you with the 20 meters.i'ts probably 16-18 meters long a normal adult.

Theres no way basilosaurus could win. Carcharocles is larger and waaay bulkier than basilosaurus
Carcharocles is 20 m and 100 t, there r a very recent 2008 scientific and a even older 1996 study sayin so
