@yuowatcher i see your point; guns are much harder to get hold of as they're generally illegal. this of course means less criminals have them as well. you can however get a shotgun, rifle or pistol but you need to get a license and fulfill certain criteria. for instance you could get legally buy a shotgun if it was for the use of hunting or clay pigeon shooting. what does annoy me though is that if you defend your own home (by attacking an intruder) you are liable and can be sued for assault.

@ampthilluk We finally agree almost on everything. I more than agree that after self defense shooting one will face hell of problems, and often it will be court who decides if it was justified. Home defense: hand gun is way better in closed quarters than long gun. I still extend my self defense right outside of my home.

I disagree that if legal access to guns is more difficult less criminals will have guns. They access guns not through legal channels, and those are hardly affected by the laws.
