In Germany the most basic C-Class is the C-180, which has a 4 cylinder, 156 horsepower petrol engine. It costs 45.000 $ (!!!!) and is by far not as well equipped as the most basic american C-Class
The german equivalent to the american C-300 would be the C-350, V6, 306 horsepower and automatic gearbox. It costs 64.000 $ !!!
Thanks for asking. Here in the United States, the base price for a 2011 C300 with an automatic transmission is $35,390, and prices range from the high $30's to about $50k depending on the options selected. Of course, you can also select the much more powerful C63 AMG which is priced in the mid-high $60's US. For 2012, the C250 will be the rear wheel drive alternative for the 2011 C300 and will have a base price of $33,800. The 2012 C300 will only be available in 4MATIC (all wheel drive).
@beachbenz The C class is so cheap in the US compared to what we have to pay here in Australia. Here the 2011 C200 has a base price of $65K AUD and the C63 AMG is priced around $165K. And the Australian dollar a surpasses the US dollar so were defiantly paying more. Maybe I should move to America!
@CraZy291 - I appreciate the feedback. You're referring to the interior color (almond/mocha) in this C-class. It actually looks better in person than the video shows. We've found that color choices are really an individual thing. It doesn't sound like it would be your first choice. MB offers two of these 2-tone interior choices with their MB-TEX fabric, the other one is grey/black. It's worth mentioning that MB purposefully has the darker surface by the windshield to reduce glare. Thanks.
No offence of course! I would be curious how many customers actually chose this variant... also in regard to resale options. I really like MB's new C-Class (if I can brag about it, I live in the city they are manufactured in), and for all I know the dark interior is way more popular than the almond/mocha one.
@CraZy291 - No offense taken. I don't have specific data on how many of this color combination were selected, relative to others. Here in the States, our most popular exterior colors are white, black and silver. This combination of white exterior with an almond/mocha interior has been very popular locally because it seems cooler to operate in this warm climate and easier to keep clean than darker colors. You must be from Sindelfingen? They also make some of these C-classes in South Africa.
Good to know. The most popular exterior colors are (in my experience) the same in Germany, perhaps add dark blue and some oddball red paints to the list. Haha, indeed, I'm from Sindelfingen. So I see a lot of MB cars around here. Would be surprised to see the mocha interior here, though. But thinking about it, a relative of mine in the US used to have an older MB car - with exactly this interior! Probably it's just more popular over there. By the way, MB now produces in Tuscaloosa.
@vladkpone - Thanks for the feedback. This new C-class design has been a phenomenal addition to the M-B line. Stay tuned for the updated, refreshed and face lifted 2012 C-class that we should have at the dealership by early Fall 2011. We'll produce a new on-line presentation for that as well - or better yet, come visit so you can experience it in person!
