This performance is really lacking without Paul's huge ringing Les Paul sound. These two dudes have too much gain dialled up. Gain costs tone (1st law of electric guitars)
paul is wearing a designer label wife beater...probably cost hi $100..can get em at your local kmart for $3...wank on paul.....sorry you were cool once
I cant tell you how many dirtroad-miles I put on my old '70Ford jammin this shit. Many a beer, many a fatty, many a good times.Somehow I just dont think the kids ridin round today are getting the same effect outta...Hell i dont even know what that shit is.
the young boy on the right is a student of Pauls . he is 18. you wanna here a 1958 lespaul run straight through a plexi ? check out Rufus Huff. New band with old sound. They kick
Hey Adam, I disagree, I think they did an awesome job. It sounds like the studio version with overdubs. The original has a certain sound though, but technology changes shit from the raw feel of 30+ years ago and the awesome Paul Kossoff!
@adamfruitcake man the guitars are crap...thin, no balls ,over distorted ,not even close...kossoff played straight into his amp , no effects ,just amp distortion...
lame effort from these 2 guitarists who dont know how to listen or even try for authenticity.. bass and drums are fine and voice is good enough. there is no need for technology here man keep it raw. there not rappers that need new tech there suposed to be playing 70s rock
Interesting assumption that the guitarists who, lets be frank, are professionals earning a living from playing, don't know how to listen or try for authenticity. It may well be that Paul had specifically requested a more modern tone for the song or that the acoustics in the venue didn't lend themselves to the original's tone. It should also be noted that both the bass & drums bear no resemblance to the original recording's tone either.
@adamfruitcake The guitar playing is good, but its the tone thats not the same. paul kossoff sound was unique to him, its never going to be as good as the legend.
I think im in love... he doesnt have to steal anybodys love.. its pretty much handed to him :) Hes a powerful man on that stage. <3 His voice will always be one of the best in my book. Rock on Paul!
actually pretty good stuff..been waiting for this dvd to come out, but unfortunatly they are not selling it in my area..seriously you should post more of this, if you have the time.
This would be a lot better if the guitarists had dialled down the heavy metal tone, it sucks all the emotion out of the song.

Have to agree, so many have tried and they all fall well short. Kossoff & Fraser still rule after 42 years.

The timing of this song is fine however, as

Did Paul Rodgers do Free material when he was in Bad Company back in the 70s?
Lanny1966 2 years ago
Only thing I've located is "Stealer" on the 74 tour. Maybe "Easy on My Soul" since Bad Co also recorded their own version.

The playing is dreadful compared to the original Free version, what are they doing with 2 guitars?! Paul's voice is amazing as ever though.
