  • @saracen09767 You really must be unemployed. WHoo. The usual gist from that lot; "blaaaaaaaaaaah" and then something about Oasis. Again. Critically acclaimed? I explained to you before the differences between COMMERCIAL and CRITICAL success. One is about record sales, which doesn't indicate quality.

Oasis did some decent stuff, but nothing legendary. The Stone Roses had it all, and I'm glad they didn't become too successful, look what that did to Oasis! Naffness.

  • @saracen09767 You just can't let it go, can you? You've lost, little boy, I've proven you wrong with facts, and all you can claim is the notion commercial success is a better indicator than critical acclaim. What a dunce you are.

  • @saracen09767 Nice to see you did learn something from me; "petulant". Shame the rest of your language skills are so shambolic. As idiotic as your opinions, in fact. I see you're desperate for the last word to save some face, but there's no point. You've lost, kid. Go off to bed now.

  • @saracen09767 You've been busy insulting pretty much everyone, dumbo. You're such a hypocrite it's untrue - try and get that reality check, fucker, you need it.

  • @saracen09767 You stumped new lows with that. I'd get off to bed now, kid, and try and sleep this one out of your memory. You will have a terrible hangover from embarrassment tomorrow!

  • @saracen09767 I'm glad you're willing to admit my superiority here. That's nice we can leave it like that. Glad you've calmed yourself down - just remember, sales count for nought. It's quality you want! This should streer you towards better music in future.

  • @saracen09767 You seem to have run out of insults now. I'm glad my point has finally swayed you now, either that or your manic cackling is your brain imploding due to the confusion you've worked yourself into. I advised you earlier to try reading a book; I take that back and strongly advise you to stick with the Sun. Listen to Waterfall.... sorry, Wonderwall. I wonder where that title came from? I wanna be myself?

  • @saracen09767 Tell yourself whatever you want, dear, you have no idea. Haha.

Watch the game last night? Yelled at any birds from scaffolding, bruv?

  • @saracen09767 "Facetious". Seriously, you need to look this word up so that you can tell I'm winding you up. Mind you, I am quite enjoying your unending attempts to knock me down. Failing miserably - have you not noticed?

  • @saracen09767 You really are clueless. Even I picked up on that one. Pffft. Hardly working class, are you?

And why am I still here? I have work tomorrow, so I'm not out "raving" or speeding in my pimped up car. I guess you're unemployed, being working class. And I can multi-task, I'm not just sitting here waiting for you to reply. Bad luck if you don't have that skill. That's being working class for you.

  • @saracen09767 You really are clueless if you haven't picked up on the current youth trend of using "retarded". Even Lady Gage used it recently as was subsequently, and correctly, admonished by anyone with a working brain. You shouldn't use that as abuse, you insulting cunt. It isn't clever, and it's deeply ignorant.

"narcissistic prick"? Check out you with the big words, you ponce! Trying to be all middle class, eh? Stick to beer and The Sun.

  • @saracen09767 Can I ask why you use the word "retarded" as verbal abuse? Are you actually deeply prejudiced against mentally disadvantaged individuals or do you just go along with popular youth slang like that?

  • @saracen09767 You managed to reply to yourself there, well done, numpty. Ruddy 'ell. Can't even differentiate between my username and yours? LOL! ROFLAMO, bruv.

If I went about going; "That Noel Gallagher, wot a poofter, 'e can't even play the drums, and that Liam Gallagher shouldn't even be a roadie he's shit." you'd take offence. And why? Because their is no knowledge in these assertions. However, I do know what I am saying, because knowledge is power! I suggest you learn from this.

  • @saracen09767 Your ranting has largely been hypocritcal. In this instance you're attempting to lecture me when you have little knowledge on the subject. Hypocrite; talking about something you do not know as if you can impart with something. It's arrogant, too, and bigoted. Need I go on? Nope.

  • @saracen09767 It's John Squire, not Ian Squire. How can you lecture me about what they're up to when you don't even know who they are? Hypocrite (that has nothing to do with Hippos, by the way).

Your trying to defend yourself but it's all gone wrong again. Perhaps you should actually look up the word "chav" on the Internet, fool. Whilst you're at it have a look at reasons why people have issues with Oasis. Most folk who listen to them are insipid morons with no musical knowledge. Like you.

  • @saracen09767 You've, again, missed the point. Man. And you're making sweeping generalisations; since when did chavs solely listen to rap and "shitty" dance music? Loads of chavs listen to Oasis. A recent survey indicates that chavs are particularly fond of banal elevator music. See the Oasis fit, there? Works like a charm!

  • @saracen09767 You admit the Roses did a "good" first album then go on to describe the band as "shitty". You're getting all confused again. You're also spending a lot of time on this Roses page. Shouldn't you be off waxing lyrical with the other dunces who like Oasis? Those 80 million of them to keep your ego in check.

Meantime I can rest assured that I prefer a far superior band; lyrically, musically, and in conduct. Tough luck.

  • @saracen09767 Clearly you aint "down wiv duh kids, bruv". They're all at it. Maybe, as you're such a drunken, working class lout, the haze you see before you clouds your comprehension of matters at hand. it would certainly explain your bizarre behaviour on here.

  • @saracen09767 I see you're still in denial. It'll pass when you get over. Hard luck that your band are a pop group. Hell, even the Roses have pop elements to some of their songs. It's not a big deal.

Jesus, now you're going on about who has the best car. Where did that come into the equation? Are you mocking my working class roots? Offensive prat.

  • @saracen09767 Do you not know what "facetious" means? Look it up, then you'll understand the ":P" face. I was subersively mocking cotemporary youthful slang etc. Duuhhh.... like, woteva etc. Man. You're about as much fun as scurvy.

  • @saracen09767 It's pathalogical with you, it really is. I've proven you wrong, dear, all the way. Go back and re-read everything I'm not explaining it to you YET AGAIN. I am actually quite busy here, which you obviously aren't. Perhaps you should just have a few mere beerskies and kick back watching the TV until you pass out and piss yourself.

  • @saracen09767 You don't seem to be able to comprehend what being "facetious" means, dumbo. Same as your inability to differentiate between "critical" and "commercial" success. Idiot. How old are you? Are you a teenager or something? This is getting too much like hardwork pointing out all your silly mistakes :P

  • @saracen09767 There is a winning side when you can start saying "fact", which is exactly what's happened. With actual evidence, rather than subjective, profane rambling, I've proven you wrong. You didn't like it, so the moronic swearing and temper tantrums began. You must be an absolute nightmare to be around! And you're the one, yet again, fabricating all this negativity about the working classes. Have you got an issue with being working class? I'm from a working class background and I'm proud.

  • @saracen09767 You're being idiotic, yet again. Don't you take information in? Oasis are classed as Pop/Rock! Haha, totally "owned" you there, "troll"! LOL!

Frankly I'd say they're in a different genre; Oasis are Pop/Rock, the Roses are indie/alternative. Totally different genres. You wouldn't get that, of course. Oasis were part of the Britpop scene (Blur were much better), and the Roses Madchester (although they distanced themselves from this scene). You really don't know anything at all.

  • @saracen09767 You can rant all you want but the damage is done. You've lost this, I'd clear off with your head ducked between your legs.

And stop being a tedius prick who rants about the virtues and heroics of the working class; a cliche that got boring quite a while ago. Who are you to say that drinking beer and watching football makes you working class? Your arrogance is just laughable. I tell you, Liam and Noel would be telling you to shut the hell up and quit embarrassing yourself.

  • @saracen09767 I see you're now straying away entirely from your daft opinion. I did some research for you; 5 million people have watch Cher Lloyd's Swagger Jagger video. That must mean it's really good! Perhaps you should go out and buy it. Or does that mean I'm "retarded"?

Ho hum. Coldplay are alright, incidentally. I'm no fan but at least they try and make new music, rather than just stealing everyone else's ideas (*ahem* Oasis). Note how the allmusic website classes them as "Pop/Rock" :P

  • @saracen09767 Man, you really went off on one during my abscence, huh, kid? "Take a chill pill, dude!" And thanks for those messages you left me. Very polite. They were titled "cunt" and "retard", for you YouTube users interested. What a delightful young man this lad is.

You've not proven anything during your wild, profanity rules rants, other than what a silly little thing you are. And you have double standards; you mock me for being the "grammar police" but then bring up my use of synonyms!

  • @saracen09767 No, I was being silly and copying your "persona". This is what it's like trying to deal with you! See, it all makes no sense. Think of how much I've been laughing at you.

Anyway, I'm off out now. I'm going to go and get drunk, talk about football, and listen to Oasis. They're blinging!

  • @saracen09767 You're such a hypocrite it's untrue.

  • @saracen09767 The gutter language, the idiotic swearing, use of contemporary slang - "retard"? Really? How enlightened of you, you fucking chavbo. And there's not much wrong with synonyms - they liven up language and create for a more flowing way of writing. Not that ud no dat off kourse.

  • @saracen09767 Oh, of course, cos u iz a geeza from dah street n duh Oasis iz dah bling innit geez! LOL! If you're not intelligent enough to grasp what I'm writing then don't try and engage in an argument, especially when you're failing so badly.

  • @saracen09767 I'm doing it primarily to wind you up. Do you speak like a chav in the real world? Of course not. I hope, anyway.

And you still haven't grasped the concept that sales mean fuck all in terms of quality. Critical opinion is everything for the longterm. Yeah, get filthy rich as the masses swarm over your latest tedious Beatles/Roses/Stones rip-off, but the truth hurts.

  • @saracen09767 I was being facetious. It doesn't surprise me that one went entirely over your head.

  • @saracen09767 I've been using the insults as you initiated them. Seems this behaviour is de rigeur (you might want to use Wikipedia to find out what that means) for you. Again more stupidity, more contradiction, you pathetic hypocrite. You're the one who triggered all of this off and now you're blaming me when you can't justify yourself anymore. Grow up, little boy.

  • @saracen09767 Pathetic excuse. That's the best you could come up with to try and defend your stupidity? You can use more than one box you know, kid. Jesus, try and think outside of the box for once, then perhaps you might be lead away from the cul-de-sac of music that is Oasis.

  • @saracen09767 I would if I were you, you clearly have no idea how to function as an independent person. You're a sheep. Go along with the masses, dear, you'll be safe there.

  • @saracen09767 Immature? It's fundamental English and you're classing it as being "immature"? Hahaha.... oh, man. I'm dealing with a dunce. You're really lost, little boy. Fuck off and read a book or something, then come back here when you actually know something.

  • @saracen09767 It counts for a more than those sales figures.

Another band I love, Can, (who Noel Gallagher rates) from the '70s barely sold any albums and only have a cult status. They're have legendary status (the "godfathers of indie") within the music industry with several landmark recordings. That's real kudos; not selling ten million records. This is what CRITICAL praise is! Not everyone cares about selling millions of records, some just want to CREATE! So; BETTER.

  • @saracen09767 You're quite irrational, aren't you? To consider it as "grammar" police when you're lazily writing away like that and accusing others of being stupid.... you can't see anything wrong with that? Deary me. I've long lost any interest in this as your arguments are laughably misguided.

With the Second Coming; they were in a court case for 3 years where they couldn't record or play live. Then got it down in 2 years as they were falling apart. You know nothing. Hypocrite.

  • @saracen09767 You can't accuse people of being "thick" when you're writing "ur", dear. It's just not quite "there". And you were calling me deluded. Good grief.

Musical insiders? Those who have been in bands, know about musical production, can play instruments, etc. Not random fans who buy a recording because their mate says it's "ace and everyone else is buying it cos it's dead cool!" And popular opinion will invariably get you nowhere. If you did that you'd now be clutching Lloyd's single!

  • @saracen09767 "You're" - you really need to learn that. It might help you with future employment.

You're the one making assumptions here. At no stage have I mentioned NME, which I consider idiotic populist journalism anyway.

And the Second Coming, whilst much maligned and inferior to their best work, is a pretty good album. Much better than a lot of Oasis' later material, which they had the luxury of making in a far more luxurious situation.

  • @saracen09767 I'm not an expert, I never said that. However, the real experts DO back me up. I have pointed out to you I was on about musical insiders rather than random journalists who have offered their insights.

You really are a total wanker, aren't you? You've gotten yourself all hepped up and not even bothered reading what I am saying. "Thick cunt", indeed you are.

  • @saracen09767 I've just read over a number of your previous messages, and what your argument seems to be based on is; Oasis have sold 80 million records so therefore they are the best. You have done this whilst completely ignoring any critical response by music experts.

And you're accusing me of being a "thick cunt"? We've already established you're belligerent, hypocritical, arrogant and foolhardy (and also that your grammar usage is dire), so if I were you I'd take a reality check.Twat.

  • @MrThreshold2009 What I'm saying is (and I can't believe I have to explain this to you. You are very stupid) something needs critical support, not just a vast amount of sales. Oasis' first albums had some of that, but nowhere near the praise as the Roses' eponymous debut. And this is what it comes down to; The Stone Roses is by far a better album than anything Oasis have ever done. And the critics back that up. 80 million sales means fuck all; most music fans are clueless yuppies. Comprehend ?

  • @saracen09767 Technically they are a pop band, yes, but you have also entirely missed my point. Yet again. POPULAR MUSIC. Pop music. Do you see? Oasis are very popular, hence a pop band. Their roots are rock'n'roll, yes, but they are thoroughly embedded in the mainstream, a fate which never befell the Stone Roses, who'd I'd class as Alternative. If you can't deal with this assessment of your beloved band (Liam's total prick, incidentally) then clear off to a scyhophantic Oasis page.

  • @saracen09767 You keep digging yourself into a bigger hole. So now you're saying a "pop" band ("popular music", dumbo. Like Oasis!) isn't the same as a quality rock'n'roll band? I think fans of pop music would disagree with you for a start. Different types of music can't be compared? Fucking idiot. I'm not even wasting my time explaining that to you.

  • @saracen09767 You're a hypocrite mocking my writing style when you can't even write coherent sentences at the best of times. "ur", for a start, and it's "you're" not "your", dumbo. It's like reading what a petulant teenager is trashing out on their keyboard.

And shit music does sell, your theory is naive and idiotic. Just look at the charts, moron.

  • @saracen09767 Listen to what you're saying; whatever sells the best is therefore the best. If Cher Lloyd's cynical, insulting Swagger Jagger steams to No.1 selling 5 million copies it is therefore the best song as indicated by its fans. What an idiotic opinion.

Oasis are a decent band but are easy listening and unchallenging and they've basically been thumping the same shit out time and time again - Importance of Being Idle aside. They appeal to the masses due to their banality. That is all.

  • @saracen09767 Your rational is non-existent. Deluded, indeed. How can you justify record sales as the true quality of a band? It is not an indication of the quality of anything. Why can't you get this through your thick skull? And your saying how many albums a band did is a good indication? Even though a lot of Oasis' are distincly average, if not shit? You clearly not only know nothing about the Roses but also nothing about quality. Clear off and listen to the Foo Fighters.

  • @saracen09767 My point was; the fans sell the music but it does not determine what is better quality. It's a shame you can't understand that as your argument is null and void.

  • @saracen09767 It was a vote by music insiders, actually, you know; the ones who know about music. Reni hasn't gone on record to say any band was the best as he doesn't do interviews. I think you're probably thinking of Mani or Brown - which kind of shows how little you know.

The masses determine fuck all, and it isn't the same fans who listen to Oasis. Different generation. And Cher Lloyd's shit single will sell really well, better than any Roses song, but it doesn't mean she's better.

  • Best band ever? For me it's a yes. 20 years of listening to them, and they just get better. A fucking shame they couldn't put more out. But that might have made them weaker. This band is my musical yardstick and I'm yet to hear anything that come close.

John Lennon would have loved the Stone Roses.

  • Is that what Ian Brown's voice sounds like without studio trickery? how did he get away with it? Great songs though.

  • reni is the reason me and thousands of other kids picked up sticks, thank fuck.

  • @saracen09767 Except a number of other papers have called it the Best Biritish Album, so don't just presume, dummy. Anyway, you're clearly a sad act so I'll leave you to it. Tarra.

  • @saracen09767 You also seem to be confused with what "critically acclaimed" means. Selling a shit load of albums is a financial gain, but, unfortunately to you, this has no relation to being "critically acclaimed". That would refer to actual "critics", you see. And the Roses, 20 years after the debut, are still getting the accolades for "Best British Album Ever" etc. Reality check needed for you, dumbo.

  • @saracen09767 And only a knowledge free prick would say the Second Coming is a poor album. Especially considering some of the unmitigated shit Oasis had frothing out of their badness machine after two decent early albums.

And, again, selling out stadiums doesn't mean anything, although you clearly forget the Roses through a festival for themselves which 50,000 people attended, Noel Gallagher being one. Oasis are just for people like you. So stick with them, otherwise your brain might fizzle.

  • @saracen09767 Point proven? Hardly. You seem to have a disdain for reality, mate. Anyway, The Stone Roses were with Silvertone, a small independent label. It was '94 that they signed with Geffen, a move primarily brought about by their manager Gareth Evans. And you talk of a lack of knowedge? Sheesh. And the album didn't flop, dumbo, it actually sold pretty well for an alternative band who didn't promote themselves like Oasis did. Plus Liam Gallagher's a total, charmless wanker.

  • @saracen09767 Only idiots use "retarded". You moron.

You know, Titanic is one of the biggest earning films of all times. I bet that makes it one of the best films ever, too! Harry Potter's sold a shitload of books! It must be the best novel ever!

Face it, Oasis are easy an listening elevator music band. Record companies pump it out to the largely mindless masses who need to be told what to like.

And Oasis aren't more critically acclaimed than the Roses. Not even close. Hard luck.

  • @saracen09767 Also, Oasis' music is pretty dumbed down. It's easy to be pissed and just yell "CHAMPAGNEEE SUPERRNOVAAA!" than it is to recall the beautiful intricacies of Shoot You Down. Basically, the Oasis appeal is just mass market X factor stuff. People with no real musical convictions.

Morning Glory is a decent album, but the Stone Roses' debut (as the critics, and a much smaller fan base have proven through voting) pisses all over it. Best British Album Ever. Swivel, dumb fuck. Hahaha!

  • @saracen09767 Oh come off it! You should realise the sales of an album do not represent it's, or a band's, quality. Britney Spears has outsold The Stone Roses, you know. Does that make her better? Idiot.

If you acutally bother to read The Stone Roses' history you'll understand the barriers they were up against and what they had to fight through. They opened the door for other bands such as Oasis who benefitted from that to get an easy break into the industry.

    By the way, it's "their".

  • @saracen09767 That's down to opinion, and I'd say Oasis have never done anything near the Roses' level. Their eponymous debut album is leagues ahead, which is why it has been voted (on critic and public votes) as the best British album of all time on a number of occasions. Oasis? Decent band with catchy songs who turned into a protracted experience.

  • john looks unhappy about somthing in this video

  • When did they start with the flares thing? This is early 1989 and they aren't wearing them here. I remember seeing a lot of flares in Manc from summer 89 onwards..

  • @snackster Yea they started wearin em pretty soon after this...then they also slogged around the whole country in like 2 months so they then caught on quick!

  • sugar spun roses

  • To quote some writer from back then..."Just saw The Stone Roses at the Hacienda...I'm already writing a postcard to my Grandchildren..."

  • Wow..I have never seen this footage before..thanx for posting!!

  • REFORM THE ROSES !

  • my mrs used to fancy the ass of reni, how come he never did that many interveiws in the roses ?

  • @Ripstoneroses1 Well he did, it's just a lot of them (if they were recorded) have been lost over time. I've read plenty of features on the band and he usually seemed to be quite bored during interviews, largely he would occasionally make witty asides but Ian would do all the the talking.

  • I reckon he sounds good here. I don't give a shit about technicalities. They would just sound wrong if they had a perfect singer,

  • Stone Roses were a great band, I fucking loved them, unfortunately they gave rise to Oasis and a bunch of other bands that set UK music back 20 years

  • Ian brown constantly out of tune

  • Jesus yeah. Especially on the verses. Liam Gallagher noted that when he first saw the Stone Roses Ian was singing well well out of key, but the experience still inspired him to become a singer

  • I've got an interview with Reni, Mani and Ian from 1995 when they were on the R1evening session with Steve Lamaque and Jo Whiley(just before Reni left). Its on tape tho and i dont really know how to transfer it to PC? ... any help? Its a good one - probably about an hours worth of chatting - and its mainly Reni doing the talking - Very funny guy!

  • oh my fucking god please find a way to put it on youtube

  • do my best

  • @balthazaa2001 omg!!1 did you find a way to get it on youtube yet?>?> plz tell me man!!!

  • how come you never hardly see that many interveiws with reni?

  • he actually sounds good today, not as good as the mid to late 80s only because his voice was young.

but you can tell he got a singing coach for today

  • The Seahorses - one album but a corker, if you haven't got it, buy it..

  • until the sky turns green

and the grass is several shades of blue

every member of parliament trips on glue

  • Reni WAS the stone roses

  • totally agree pal, voice of an angel, one off drummer, legend says he supports everton and bevs with the stig

  • ill be the first to say ian can give a dodgy performance,i love the guy but shows like reading, roses last gig were shockin, but i waited 5yrs to see the roses and when i did the guy was faultless, straight up,its on here,..leicester 95,..class

  • Does anyone else ever wonder if Cressa is related to Karl Pilkington?

  • ian brown's voice is an ocean's tube seen?

  • The thing is, as good as The Stone Roses were on record, Ian Brown was an appaling singer live. Youtube is littered with countless examples of that, and many bootlegs ive come across over the years add to the fact. Great band, though

  • Ian can give an aray of performances but you can't knock the record's.

  • the Roses album gets cited as the best album of the 90's but was recorded in 89,Noel himself said that if it want for the Roses there would of been no Oasis because Liam went to see the Roses play with James in 88 at the International and was totally in awe of Brownie.

  • @carlos7217 Recorded in 88

  • I still believe that 80 to 90 persent of the reason England got back to real Brit rock or pop as it was called was because of the Stone Roses! Just think of all the other bands like Oasis, pulp, swede, would they have came along when they did if there was no stone roses! If I see one more brit with blond spiked hair and chains hanging down from their jacket and they grab and yank on themselves on stage someone is going to go postal on them. Thank god for the Ian and the stone roses.

  • I feel the need to mention this but imagine what brit rock would be if the stone roses never played at blackpool or spikeisland! for all those who make a point that Ian Brown cannot sing too good just think what we had in the 80's; Billy Idol, mr. 'playing with myself', Duran Duran, Boy George and so on. After the first month of mtv I couldnt stand them! RUBBISH! In person at blackpool they were fantastic and yes Ian sung modestly well.

  • yeah id have to agree with you. My favourite band by far, kickstarted a revival of decent british music. Noel himself has said Oasis wouldnt have formed if it wasnt for the Roses. Charlatans, another top band, existence is owed to the roses aswell, and without the popularity of oasis spurned on by the influence of stone roses, i doubt decent bands like ocs would have enjoyed the same popularity.

  • eggy bastard has no concept of what a front man should be. It's certainly nothing to do with being able to sing.

  • Perfect band.

  • Ian Brown can not sing for toffee, not a genius, great band, great guitar player, great first album, great promise, great waste. A half decent singer would have elevated them into legend, maybe.

  • Well you can say that, yes, he isn't too good live. But listen to All Across the Sands, Hardest thing in the World etc. and tell me he can't sing. This was just a dodgy perforamance. It happens. Anbd they are in legend status my dear, hard luck.

You also didn't mention their genius drummer. Regularly consider the most naturally gifted sticks man yet,

  • He can't sing, turn the reverb up and you can sound like Ian Brown too.

  • Lets not forget Ian did help write these songs as well. Without him they may not have been as good as they were. It wasnt all Squire. The Seahorses failure prove that. Then again I think Reni's influence was majorly downplayed

  • He can sing good enough and that he was high or stoned before hand does not supprise me at all. Ian Brown is still a genius and the stone roses were the band that started the rise of brit pop or rock and left the nasty 80's behind, thank god!

  • my favorite roses tune.

  • i think we all know ian can sing he just rarely does it well live. to be fair to the man he was stoned at almost every live performance which wouldnt have helped but you can hear on tracks such as the hardest thing in the world that the guy really can sing and there are some clips of him singing well...live on jools holland.

  • I was at Blackpool and Spike Island and adore them, but, no he cant sing, that was the point. His voice suited the music especially in the studio. I dont want some classically trained middle class arsehole telling me what its like to be a northern working class lad. Give me one of us up there anyday. Go on Monkey!!! tell it like it is. This band (along with The Smiths) shaped me in my formative years. Thanks 4 posting

  • 21 january 2009_ it was in the 30th january 1989' ! Great!

  • i see it coming. we'll have a madchester revival..

  • i hope so some time in the future....

  • Yehh..

  • oh he struggles with that chorus. but makes up for it by swinging his arms about ha.

  • I think that the Roses are a hardcore guitar music fan's band. If you don't like guitar solos that go on for 2 minutes and onwards then they are'nt the band for you. Personally i think Squire's riffs say just as much as the lyrics. The Stone Roses - greatest band of the past 2 decades, easy.

  • I think people who appreciate art like the Roses...this is not guitar music.

  • @letmeloginyoucunt , you are wrong. if this is anything, it is guitar music.

  • well, i think you are wrong.

  • Reni is god... at 16 i dogged school and hitch hiked with a mate all the way to see this gig with our saved up lunch money for the ticket. How the fuck can people try and fit oasis, kasabian etc in the same league!

This band changed my life... Reni made me pick up a set of sticks and form my own band.

  • fuckin spot on man!

look up the squire/brown interview on here. browny says (i think half jokingly) "I'd like to think that people would go out and make bands because they've seen us".

Noel Gallagher and Richard Ashcroft have both said publicly and honestly that seein the roses live made them take up music.

  • so you was in the crowd?!! woaaoww! are u still a drummer?

  • @chrristophbokkie Hehehe lov it mate!! Would give me left bollk to have been ther!! Was only 9 :(

  • @chrristophbokkie

dude, im still well young, but the lyrics in this song i can relate to soo much, all the time im not not working im drunk, if not im high and the sky is green and the grass is several shades of blue for me mate! im still living this ere, bring this stuff and fuckoff the chavvy music i say, love all you guys who listen ti this song, like this comment if you love this song <3 XOXOXOXOXO

  • There is something about that voice and accent over the beautiful melodies that made their music stand out.A perfect singer would ruin the song.Listen at 2.03.

  • i dont think there has ever been a band where every member was equally as important as the next and totally irreplacable. As soon as Reni packed in that was it.

  • there is so much more to the roses than ians voice, I think it makes the roses, you either get it or you dont, fantastic musicians and a front man so cool he can make bein a crap singer fit in perfectly, i think to slate his singing is missing the point all together, a tight group of mates makin music for the right reasons, a rare thing if you ask me, roses 4 ever.

  • Agree - but it's so amazing that three of the best musicians ever to set foot on a stage together could also have a singer who was techncically weak, but very strong in other ways....anyhow, years later, they are still one of my favourite bands ever

  • so thats not the coolest fuckin drummer you ever seen? awesome

  • 1. stone roses are AMAZING 2. so are OASIS why do u ppl argue over this?? if ya slaggin off ian brown for singing... go and see him live. take it easy x

  • I like both, though I think the Roses were the more influential, talented group, certainly in terms of things like ability to play instruments/complexity of their songs. Comparisons will always be made, mate, especially on a messageboard, people always love to argue!

  • Something's not right with this video, the sound is out of sync...sounds like the sound has been dubbed on.

  • For a band with such an amazing drummer and guitarist, it's a shame the singer is so lame...

  • The Stone Roses were either amazing live, or utterly awful. This is the latter. Get hold of some other videos of better gigs (the waterfall live tv performance is one)

  • You speak shit

  • oasis r a bunch of twats. stone roses.....pride of manchester

  • stone roses rules

but i just dont get it why he cant sing properly :d

  • the boys r legends. they were. end of conversation

  • Thats not Reni speaking, its been dubbed on!!

  • how can anyone compare this lot to oasis, liam is not fit to make ian a cup of tea !

  • He would struggle with intelectual challanges anyway.

  • Oasis would never had started or been as successful if it wasn't this lots

  • Though to be fair, Oasis have sold more records, because they deliberately go for the football-fan-chant type song. The Roses had a bit more class and although they were very popular, you get the feeling that quality was the main driving force behind them. Still, Brown is either amazing or shit live.

  • liam gallaghers image/stage performance etc, would be nothing if the roses and especially brown had not been around before him/oasis...

  • Nice vid.

Good to see Ian Brown's voice at its usual best lol

  • Browny's voice gives me goosebumps.

  • Reni speaks!

  • And how! :D

  • I've been searching for AGES to hear the man speak! Thanks for this!

  • this song got me into the roses, what times those, lad.
