  • i feel its made up because no rumbling is able to surpass the sound of shakira inspite of so many close strikes ... wtf

  • Comment removed

  • this Nassau? .. God, I miss the Bahamas

  • how is this an almost? the lightening is like 2 miles away

  • Fake the jet ski didn't even stop a small bolt would have shut that thing down frying the electronics.

  • @skArpPT just fyi, lightning takes the fastest path to the ground, and the electronics on jetskis is surrounded by rubber anyways to resist water.

  • "When you roll it, I cant control it, And when you throw it, Its hard to catch it,

    And when you shake it

I pray you dont break it

    And when you drop it

    Girl I cannot take it"

  • Camera Hydrolics, lol.

  • Some people will say anything for views. The closest strike was 2 + miles away and you wouldn't be able to see a jet ski that far away let alone see how close lightning was to it.... Bad title, very poor form.

  • this is fake as hell because lightning lights up the whole sky idiot no one say 'awsome storm' or 'oh wicked man' or anything this is totally edited

  • this is fake as hell

  • this vids music doesnt track the footage. whos been kidding on they were there???

  • is that at Atlantis? that resort is amazing if u didnt go there, you have 2

  • I think some of this is FAKE

  • That's one awesome storm.

  • i bet some guy there was like holy mother oh mother i just omg what the omg omg wtf holy sh!t

  • The one that "almost hit" the jetski is in fact a reflected extension of the bolt that we see clearly a couple of seconds later.

  • OMG wat am im watching

  • were u playing garbage im only happy when it rains

  • Fantastic Lightning 5\5

  • Hmmm... The bolt stroke away; that "strike" you think almost hitted the jetski is a camera "issue". It happens with all cameras... :) The actual strike was too far away. ;)

  • Never heard of that one?

  • I bet the jet skiier was like oh S***! ! !

  • The record as far as I know was a 60mile long bolt!

They often travel more than 20 miles from the storm. Even if the sky is blue, lightning can still strike.

    What an amazing element!

  • thunderstorms are dangerous -- WTH are those people still doing there?! There could have been a chance where they could have gotten electrified.

  • its called population control chief

  • i dont know about some people but lighting means LEAVE!

  • @4Blobert4 ;L ikr

  • awesome vid! 1:27 cool!

  • wait but....did it hit the same spot because lightning dosent strike the same spot

  • yes it does. haha

  • DOOOH !!! The video is in SLOW MOTION when lightning strikes, but the soundtrack is normal speed.

Lightning hits the same spot up to 6-7 times with each strike. What seems to us as a single flash is actually a very quick series of electric discharges, that go BOTH up-down AND down-up.

  • ...Sometimes, lightning can strike 30, or even 40 times the same spot, in the shape of "returning discharges"! :0 These 30, 40 strikes aren't all visible by human eyes, though... ;) W can only see those 6, 7 times out of 30!... LOL

  • FAKE !

  • why is it fake then, i see nothing fake

  • Did some of you even *read* the description? Jesus...

  • Ok..no this isn't a positive streamer..nor is is fake. It is merely an artifact of ALL cameras. The lightning bolt is quite distant from the camera. The multiple lenses and the actual device that "sees" the image reflect and distort certain things..like lightning.

Still..I know I wouldn't be anywhere close to the water with a lightning storm so near!

  • zeus from the heavens 1:05

  • What is everybody's problem...this is not fake...lightning is so fast you only see one bolt when there could be several...this is great footage

  • this is not fake you ass holes this is real

  • lol this is a bad and a shit fake

  • yea and the tooth fairy is real what the fuck ever

  • COOL =D

  • actually this is real because i live in the bahamas and i've seen worse.

.....about a month ago we saw two funnel clouds forming over the central part of nassau

    and we dont have tornadoes!

  • wow, i know its fake but still its cool

  • do you think you viewers are complete idiots? what a bad fake!!

btw: 4 stars? yes, many idiots here :D:D

  • thts fake the picture stops and then suddenly theres motion with the lightening but not in the jet skiers..

  • have you even EVER heard of slowmotion?

  • That little strike by the jetski is at the 2:06 mark.

  • This is because its fake

this is a photo shop job.... anyone who thinks otherwise is dumb.

  • Thats a positive streamer you stupid ass.Energy from the lightning, could be seen in other vids of lightnings...its after the lighting and not in the same place.

  • photo shop!

  • yeah what's so awesome about this?

  • yea and i LIVE in Long Island...wats ur point? n e way dis a solid one...ur bound 2 have a shockin time in the bahamas n e way lol. *dat was so cheeeesy*

  • omfg i stayed in the either the same room or the room next to that one (i can tell by the view.)

  • it was a camera reflection

  • dude, the first lightning bolt struck TWICE in the same spot

  • Shakira:D

  • great vid 5 stars.

  • yaaawn

  • um, the lightning that you say strikes near the jet ski is a camera trick, if you look carefully enough the strike that looks closer is exactly the same shape as the lightning striking in the distance because its the same strike, just the camera reflected it wrong

  • Correct. See my post from earlier.

  • ffing posers i hate them driving around in their drop tops argghhhhhh good old lightning

  • LOL those people wanna die? lightning is very dangerous killer. whisch i prefer assassin

  • Either way it's a change your pants close call and not very smart to be out there ...

  • shopped

  • wats that island called?? perhaps paridise island :)

  • Yes, it's Paradise Island.

  • were you staying at the riu?

  • yes

  • I LIVE in nassau lol

  • what a idiot man the jet ski guy still goes out there when it almost hit him frekin idiot

  • Ok, for those who are interested I have slowed down the section where the jet ski almost gets hit. YouTube won't let me include the link but just look for my postings.

  • if you have the original then you should upload it as well with no editing and do a rewind of the streamer in slow motion.

  • The only editing I did was to cut out the uninteresting stuff and slow down the strikes to 5% of the original speed. I'll go back to the original and see if there is anything else I can do to make the streamers more clear.

  • Apparently you can't put URLs in a post so you will have to do a search for - streamers + "step leaders" - and the "How stuff works" page should be up there. There will be other sites too.

  • whats with the music? you said you slowed the footage down but the music stayed the same pace.

  • I unlinked the audio and let it play normal speed. Then I edited the video over it.

  • Am I blocked?

  • I also think it might be a streamer. I remember seeing a famous picture of a lightning strike from far away that included a streamer just a few feet away from the photographer. If the streamer had connected, the photographer would have been struck. I think the same is true for this jetski.

  • Streamers and step leaders are part of the formation of a lightning discharge and occur where the lightning reaches the ground, not several miles away. here's a page that explains step leaders and (on the next page) streamers. If not a reflection in the lens - and you are right, the first "streamer" appears well before we see the actual flash - then it is the product of some other part of the recording process. Perhaps bleedthrough. Someone else might be able to enlighten us.

  • Streamers do not always connect to the step leaders and can occur well away from the main bolt, if I'm not mistaken.

  • Nice video. Not fake, but the bolt near the jetski isn't real - it's a reflection in the camera lens of the real bolt in the distance. If you look at other footage of lightning here on Youtube you can see the same phenomenon repeatedly.

  • I believe you are missing what I am talking about. The little bolts that dance around the jet ski happen well before the flash of main bolt. It is more likely that they are streamers as someone else pointed out.

  • Ahh yes ill have to agree w/ doodle. That lightning bolt is probably nowhere near that jetski, if it was that close it would have most likely strucken him. The flash would have been very big as well for it being that close. Although the jetski dude is an idiot for going jetskiing during a thunderstorm, he probably deserved to get struck to teach him a lesson.

  • If you read doodlestroodle's post you will see that he agrees with me that these streamers are real. There is no reason to doubt that they are as near the jetski as they appear.

  • Yea, and if you read doodles post you will see that he doesnt agree with you.

  • Ok, you are right about doodle. However, if these small bolts are reflections, why don't we see a flash in the sky prior to them? There is no indication of a main lightening strike in the preceding seconds. What evidence or explanation do you have to maintain that these are reflections?

  • THAT WAS A CLOSE ONE!! :O i enjoy a good thunder storm but this was really reall really good :D

  • awesome

  • Hi David ! I`m Wendy from Holland and I always was very interesting in thunder and storm.. In Holland there`s almost never a storm like this, so I enjoyed you`re video ! AMAZING !

  • beautiful quality

quite unnerving how the bolt at the end was so far from the jetski

  • Very nice video. Definitely not faked, I can tell. It took me a couple of times watching it, but I did see the little bolt you described. That looks like what I think is called a "streamer," where a small bolt actually extends from the ground up as an opposing charge is built up. A conductive pathway is formed in the air, and a return stroke goes from the cloud to the ground and that's usually the bright strike you actually see. The dim, small bolt looks like a streamer to me.

  • Very interesting. I read up on streamers and I am not so sure. The bolt actually dances around the jet skis, first in front, then behind, and then in front again. The main bolt is very far away. That does not seem to match the descriptions of streamers that I found. But its the best explanation so far!

  • Well, the "real" video is high def so I guess you would have to come over to my house and view it from the original tape. But even that I could have edited and put back on tape, so I guess there is no way to really prove that it is real. I am not sure why anyone would go to such trouble to fake it though. I've got better things to do with my time!

  • first of all.. why are people out in the ocean and on the beach when its thunder storming like that?

  • I was asking myself the same question as I was taping from my hotel room!

  • That fork at 1:26 was badass.

  • looks super imposed to me

  • I can assure you that I have done nothing but slow down the strikes. I know the strikes around the jet skis look wierd but it is unadulterated.

  • That little strike by the jetski is at the 2:06 mark.

  • I loved how you paused on the strikes. It gives a clearer view on form and dispensation of energy.

  • Thanks for the nice comments. Its funny how noone comments on the little lightning bolt that dances around the jet skis at the very end.

  • very gorgeous clip. love the slow motion of the bolts of lightning. the forked lightning was creepy. nice job. 10 stars. -priestessmana

  • Hey nice video shot, kinda streched out and boring, but still a nice shot.

  • at the start it looked beautiful because it was at the rooftop and you could see the beach with a good viewmthen a bright light appears,it just makes it gold

  • ohhh those clouds are tight! a little long, but the music was cool! awesome shots :)

  • i live in sydney and the storms here r fucking huge compared to this one

  • Lol huuuuuuuge storm.

  • Why all the pause and relighting of the lighting bolt? that makes it appear unreal.

  • The pauses are real. I just slowed the thing down 2000 times. It is fascinating how the bolt keeps reappearing and following exactly the same path.

  • yo nice video ive been on a cruise there i saw the lightning out at sea i was in a tropical ship any way nice video
